Where does this franchise go from here?
Hyrule Warriors
hopefully it ends now
As long as the Warriors spin-offs keep selling, I guess we can assume that every major Zelda game will be quickly followed by a Warriors variant. I can accept that, as long as they don't start trying to turn the normal Zelda games into Warriors.
>normal zelda game into warriors
The closest you'll ever get to that is Zelda someday resembling something close to Darksiders, which wouldn't kill them. Zelda combat can be terribly dull.
What franchise?
Zelda or the Warriors/Musou games?
Zelda Warriors
Would you play an Advance Wars-themed Musou with vehicles?

You know, a lot of people didn't like the time travel plot, but I think the game did a real good job showing just how fucked Hyrule was once the guardians turned. The monster hordes were one thing and I believe they explain in AoC the reason they're musou-tier is due to Astor and Harbinger Ganon's influence (that one BotW memory being an outlier in a relative calm before the storm), but no character was really prepared for the guardians. There were tons of those fuckers, and the only reason they were able to be kept under control in AoC was due to the Divine Beasts being saved. If it wasn't for the egg summoning the nuChampions, things would be just as fucked as BotW even with about a month or more of preparation from Hyrule's forces.
Who knows? I dont see them making more for older titles, unless they do things like the Civil War before OoT. The problem is with that is that Link and Zelda weren't born yet. I can only see them doing a warriors game for other titles if they feel they have a story to tell.
The warriors spin-offs will definitely keep selling by virtue that it's a better musou than the mainline musou games. DW-fans might bitch and moan but there's really no other option for good musou games for them at the moment.
This is what the OG HW should have been anyway. Shame about the framerate. First game that makes me think holy shit we need a Switch 2.
>at the moment.
The timeline shit just pissed me off. I beat the main campaign but I’m not putting any more time into aoc especially not with the garbage frame rates
Up your butt around the corner down Main Street.
Get fucked nerd
It splits into three more timelines.
>Hyrule Warriors: Age of Demise
>Hyrule Warriors: Imprisoning War
>Hyrule Warriors: Great Flood
>somehow they all have happy endings and/or time travel written in
>Where does this franchise go from here?
To hell, I hope.
Some good DLC for this one.
After that I'd be fine if they'd let it rest for a while and do some more Warriors games for other Nintendo franchises.
>time travel
its sorta hard to put that genie back in the bottle after Ocarina of Time, Oracle of Ages, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword (and the original Hyrule Warriors) all featured time travel.
Yeah but you know what I mean. The type of time travel that justifies a happy ending where there doesn't NEED to be. Though I'm fine with it in AoC because I'm sure plenty of people wanted a happy ending for the champions, I would really appreciate a DLC map or something based on the actual Great Calamity. Have it be 5 or so harder stages (considering that pre-Calamity was supposed to be a calm before the storm so there wouldn't be too many opportunities for actual real battles) with the gimmick that runes are inaccessable since the egg isn't there, making you rely on flurry rushes and enemy openings more.
>DW-fans might bitch and moan
DW fans are mostly gameplayfags so if Hyrule Warriors keeps having good gameplay no one will give a shit. /eagg/ will just continue posting Dong Bai/ The Shed memes for all eternity.
I must admit my only exposure to a musou style game was Senran Kagura and a pirated version of Dragon Quest Heroes. I assumed the entire Dynasty Warriors franchise was shit based on those two games. It wasn't until recently did I get ahold of both Age of Calamity and HW: Definitive Edition that I had a total 180 on this opinion.
Now I'm sorta looking forward to playing more Dynasty Warrior games and hope Age of Calamity goes balls to the wall with expansions. The biggest issue I have with Breath of the Wild is the limited roster of Enemies. Hopefully BoTW2 introduces a butt load of new enemies and this can be used to tie in with the Age of Calamity DLC as some sort of promotional tie in.
Try Samurai Warriors 4 (NOT 4-II)

Give me fucking Darknuts or redesign Iron Knuckles for fuck's sake. If Cadence of Hyrule can bring back both and make them unique, then surely the main devs can as well.
There’s a warriors style combat section at the end of skyward sword and it’s amazing
Hyrule Warriors: Imprisoning War
>The problem is with that is that Link and Zelda weren't born yet
considering OoT's entire gimmick is time travel it's not like that would be a major issue, especially since Age of Calamity already opened the door to more split timelines/alternate endings of major events
holly shit that would actually be dope
The back of the damn case even says that this is a story that takes place before the events of BOTW. If that isn't false marketing, i don't know what.
Nintendo already had the story! They just had to fill in the gaps. Instead we get a frigging fan fiction. I knew this shit would happen when i played the demo and that egg-bot jumped through time. Yes I already know this is a thing in Zelda but that doesn't justify shit in this case. Nintendo still said that we would get a prequel to BOTW and a time travel story here was just lazy story telling to include Sidon and Riju and others.
It really pisses me off that they totally blew this chance to tell a sad story and build up the characters more. w/e it's done now and i finished the game and won't put another second into it.
