So now that Ace Attorney as a series is confirmed not dead, what were your favorite moments and cases so far?
Ace Attorney
literally every moment of this case(s)
AA6 easily has the best moment in the series with Justice vs. Wright.
Though it's special in that it's not as impactful if you haven't been into the series as long. Seeing everything flipped on you like that was a master stroke in writing and nothing else in AA comes close.
the last case in AA6 is the best case and that's a fact, not an opinion
just finished this one a few days ago, was absolutely great for sure.
I wish i got to experience 1-3 for the first time again.
AA1: First case is full of soul and sets the perfect tone.
AA2: Tons of moments from the last case.
AA3: The second Mia case.
AA4: The first case when you realize there's more to it and it's not just a standard tutorial.
AA5: Everything after the culprit of the school case transforms, very predictable mystery but he is fucking hilarious.
AA6: The whole first half of the last case. Filler case with Athena is also surprisingly good.
AAI: The last culprit, really feels like a "final boss" encounter. People complained about the length but if anything I think AAI2's antagonist could have fought on for a while longer.
AAI2: The entire first case is brilliant.
>So now that Ace Attorney as a series is confirmed not dead,
Since when?
Capcom leaks show they're localising DGS1&2 in 2021 + Ace Attorney 7 in (supposedly) late 2021
You know just realized that if Acro had actually killed Regina he would've been found out pretty much immediately. He's the only one in the circus with a known grudge against her, and I doubt she would've been wearing a cape that could magically snag onto the bust.
Since the leaks, which leaked a DGS1/2 localization and AA7.
I was so bored with that case. Phoenix acting out of character and the villain literally rewriting the law in court really took me out of it. But I didn't really get the appeal of Spirit of Justice.
>very predictable mystery but he is fucking hilarious.
You're right, 5-3 is severely underrated and funny as fuck.
Oh have images leaked? I only saw the localization files which I spent far too much time going through.
Apparently this was an example image (probably a mockup). I don't think much other images leaked, but the Twitter threads they were in have been closed by Capcom.
What did you see in the localization files?
Isn't that the game where Watson is a little girl?
The first case in DGS is probably my favorite because you are slowly seeing ryunosuke become way more confident and competent as the case progresses in dialogue and animations. also its a great starting point given how much the odds are stacked against you
Minor spoiler:
No, that's his daughter
Nothing too interesting, actually. Saw them trying to come up with a name for ビジン (Pretty lady) that wasn't "Pretty Lady" for some reason, they were thinking about going with "High Class Lady" instead. I haven't actually played these games yet, I've had them on my 3DS for a while but it takes me a while to get around to playing AA, but I heard that racism is pretty rampant and important in the games and I tried to find examples of it in the files to see how they're handling it, but I didn't find anything.
>AA7 in late 2021
NIGGER YOU'D BEST NOT BE SHITTING ME
I think they end up doing something like "Oh, that was just some guy NAMED Dr. John Watson" and then the actual Dr. Watson character is a guy with a different name. And neither of them are loli watson's father
I also loved AA6's last case, in fact that entire game is great other than the filler Athena case that doesn't have anything to do with the rest of the game
I don't think they *need* to handle it, as it's part of the story. One of the main arcs in the game is that the Brits come around to liking the Japanese main characters, and that both Japan and Britain were pretty xenophobic. They might not use "Jap" any more, though.
You're right, sort of, but Watson still just exists in the games.
I kinda thought they might since racism is such a taboo thing in the west now, but people may not care if it's racism directed at Japanese people. But yeah, I figure "Jap" won't make it.
ive been trying to replay the first three games for the past few months now, but the investigations are so fucking painful I keep dropping them.
>present character profile instead of evidence
even if it was completely irrelevant i actually liked that case because blackquill is based
Just noticed that it's "Janet" on there, as in Janet Tsu, who has done the localization since AA2. Good to see she's still around, she has a pretty good sense of how to localize these games and her blogs were really interesting.
The difference here is that the game isn't racist, it just shows racist people. Interestingly, DGS1/2 can be seen as a better counterpoint to both racism and sexism in the early 20th century than a lot of hamfisted Western stuff.
AA was never good.
How far in are you? The first game's investigations in particular are painful, but I feel it's fine after that.
what's the point of replaying a linear murder mystery story? i love these games but i know it's a one time deal.
2-2 day 2. I think I've presented everything and everyone i have to Dr Hotti
Janet seems mostly good. Only problem I can think of is her getting rid of the pedo jokes with the old man in AA2, saying "Americans wouldn't accept it!" and then Alexander O' Smith left them in in Apollo Justice and no one cared.
not that guy but while i remember the murderer and some story beats, i tend to forget a ton of the character dialogue and gameplay, and it's fun to replay
Same reason you might reread a book. Honestly I've replayed AA games more than your usual story driven trash
addendum, characters really shouldnt have more than 2 lines of dialogue if they dont have anything to say about your evidence
I do enjoy the last case, but that part of the case stands out as such a ridiculously strong note.
It gives the player the perspective of why every single prosecutor is 100% sick of Phoenix's shit. It shows that a miracle last ditch effort just looks obviously idiotic from your end, and you have no idea how the judge bought it.
Having the Phoenix Wright turnabout magic cast on you is a trip.
Because you tend to forget things? I also recently replayed original trilogy for the first time in ten years, and outside of some basic premises I remembered nothing. I would even argue that the main "hook" of Ace Attorney is not in some whodunnits (which they almost always reveal outright anyway), but in the wholesome interactions between the cast.
To be fair that's also because they're meant to be throwaway jokes, and pedophilia just doesn't work as a joke here - and in AJ it's a full day of plot that needs the panties shit (if that's what you're referring to). I'm just glad they embraced the whole Japanifornia thing, probably the best way to go.
Tsu worked on AJ as well, and wrote blogs about it:
capcom-unity.com
Yeah, I forgot a lot of things since I first played them (over the course of 2017-2019), so I think they'd be fun to play a second time. I'm considering playing them in Nip anyway, which should be interesting to see the differences.
>AA2
That was the same game where a man in his thirties has the hots for a borderline retarded teenage girl
what do we think of the anime?
I actually don't remember the panties thing. If the old man and his perversion was integral to the plot in AA4, I totally forgot about it.
my grandpa passed away as i was playing AAI2 three years ago and i haven't been able to go back to it since.
It was alright. I liked seeing certain moments from the games with more animation, and the original episodes like the train one were kind of interesting.
>If the old man and his perversion was integral to the plot in AA4, I totally forgot about it.
He appears for less than thirty seconds. He still gets a court profile though. 4-2 introduces like ten characters but only has two witnesses.
I meant this guy
dub > sub
Pedo jokes are a problem retard.
Unlike in Japan where jokes about that are the same as jokes about a pervert like Larry in the civilized world a joke about pedophilia is like a joke about rape or the holocaust.
it would not fit in and she was right to get rid of it.
Faggots like you only whinge over that sort of thing because you are a closeted pedo yourself
It was decent at best, though that still makes it a dozen times better than the DR anime.
I hope AA7 copies DGS's feel. I like AA6 but man are the animations and sound effects weak compared to the DS games, DGS felt more like the correct evolution to 3D for me
There's some massive projection going on in this post.
Nice bait.
