The only games I played in english are Kiwami 2 and Yakuza 6. But I recall Kiryuu and Saejima saying that once you choose that way of life, you are always a Yakuza (he says gokudou, that fits more if you consider it a path or a way of life). For Kiryuu and Saejima being a Yakuza is all about Ninkyo (chivalry) and honor.
