How is your RPGmaker project going on?

its shit

It’s 2hard to make a game without mixels. Fuck this inflexible thing.

same, but I should give up.

Is MZ worth upgrading to?

Bump, wanna know too

Stuck for a while after having a downer part of the rollecoaster ride that is my mood, but talking about it gets me motivated so I will go back to it soon.

Pirated it and messed around with it a little and I hate the high res default tilesets. Is there a way to lower the tileset resolution so I can import 16x16 tileset?

I don't know, I'm still with MV.

rpg maker games dont sell unless theyre H games. prove me wrong

Wait a little while for all the plugins to be ported over and for a good UI customization engine like Luna Engine to be added. It usually takes an RPG Maker Version 2-3 years to become a viable replacement for the last one.

They do, you just don't realize that some of the games are RPGMaker games. Devs who are good at hiding the fact that it's even in RPGMaker deserve the money tbqh

Lisa, Hylics, Jimmy & The Pulsating Mass, Rakuen, Yume Nikki, Corpse Party, Oneshot to name a few successful ones

Been learning C++ lately and I've been thinking. Javascript must be super easy shit compared to this. Maybe it wasn't as hard as I thought it was a year or two ago.

I cant even decide what it's about
I'm pretty much socially retarded so coming up with compelling characters is out

It's coming along, have a WIPPY

This looks fire, what the hell.

Looks nice but could look nicer with pixel art.
High res art like that makes a game look like a flash game unless you make it more painterly like vanillaware does but that shit is super hard to do.

The overworld stuff's pixels, but it takes 10x as long to do pixel art so we're doing the standard double style in the interest of actually getting the game finished

Dead. Started watching Naruto out of bored curiosity and it's somehow managing to hit every note I wanted to hit with my game. I didn't even think I was weebing it that hard story and presentation-wise, or being that thoughtlessly cliche. I've more or less convinced myself that I'm not fit for storytelling so I'm just gonna boot up Game Maker and make a platformer instead.

Wow, nice style. Although the color palette is a little bit weird, maybe that's the point. The girl really sticks out, but I like her design. The guy has a cool looking design too even if I can only see him from the side.

Started a couple weeks ago. I've got a lot of work to do, but my story and characters are all outlined and my map has been sketched out for a while. I've just got to flesh out this skeleton as a 1.25 man team.

Can't say I like the overworld style but you're doing the right thing with it since you said you're focused on getting the game finished.

Thanks user, we're still working on getting a variety of assets together as well as adding a bunch of shadows to make things look more consistent. Have a chicken boss.

Now this is a big curious and interesting visual. Is it sweating eggs? Is this how it grows eggs like some sort of egg production factory? Why do the eggs have faces? What's the end goal of this chicken? So many questions, cool concept, I'll be waiting to see it when it's all done.

I gave up because writing is hard.
Now I'm just looking for people that want an artist.

Slimes possess regular chickens, turning them into evil chickens, and eventually into slime-egg producing monstrosities

SOUL

this is absolutely your fetish

>slimes
Finally a game where slimes get to shine again. This is an amazingly creative idea. I wonder what else slimes have done in the world or what slime-egg production has done? Perhaps there's hordes of slimes? A flood of slimes? Will you have to blast through all of them before getting to the mother chicken? Among other questions like slimes come from eggs?! Then what came before the egg?! I await the answers in the mysterious world of slime-egg production.

you just started, youll get there

I'm working on the story for mine currently. Seeing as how it's gonna go the route of pixel-shit graphically, I'm settling on making it resemble a Master System game complete with the same palette.

Guess you'll have to find out as it comes along. I don't wanna seem like I'm shilling, just like sharing stuff with other game dev anons and seeing other user's WIP shots.

How many hours of that is just leaving it open? I realize it wasn't hard to just leave RPGMaker open while I "browsed for ideas".

Good. I’m using a lot of premade assets, since the game is pretty ambitious, but I’m also making edits to said assets in order to create something resembling my own aesthetic style.

It’s a gameplay focused game, so I’m hoping that’ll carry most of it, but it’s a hell of a work load since the game is roughly going to be about 18 hours for main story (give or take 25 hours to 100%) and I’m doing this whole project solo.

I hope to have a demo out in the early months of 2021. It’s been years since I’ve been this determined to work on something.

keep going. every french game i've played has been based

maybe 1200 hours

Reminder to backup often. If you have an improper shutdown while rpg maker is open like from a power outage or crash, it will corrupt the current project file.

it also count the time I've spent play testing my own shit game.

I spent a fuckton of money to upgrade to the latest rpg maker and third party scripts and I just stopped working on it
