Do I need to read the books to understand this game's plot?
Do I need to read the books to understand this game's plot?
Yes, games are notorious for being difficult to understand. If I were you, I would read all books/comics and even fanfiction. This is the only way to understand the game, even slightly.
???
What? This game has a super simple plot. Theirs a ton of optional lore but you can understand the world and characters just fine without reading a single line of text
Yep. Drops you into gameplay, not an inkling of story. story is ONLY in books for this one
The entirety of the plot is in the title
>brainlet
No but read all the books in game
yeah I'd recommend reading all the books. Dishonored is one of the complex political games out there.
apparently some of the books flesh out Dishonored 2 and Death of the Outsider but their stories are already so shitty there's no point
Dude gets framed
Little girl kidnapped
Dude kills or doesn't kill for revenge
Dudes' name gets cleared by little girl
Little girl becomes assassin too
What are you having trouble understanding?
the general flow of the plot, who the characters are, where they go, that sort of thing
The books just help the aesthetic. The plot is super simple.
How far are you?
Played through them all in the summer
Fucking amazing games, even 2 and DOTH.
I bought one of the Dishonored books ages ago but I never got around to reading it
this game has a plot?
Nice bait
yes, one of the most complex of this generation. if you skip the books you're missing out on a lot of lore, like dunwall's tax policy and emily's sexual awakening
god that dreary oppressive atmosphere is amazing in one.
Where is the Emily book?
Shall we gather for whisky and cigars tonight?
there are dishonoured books?
I loved the first one and I love Dark Messiah of course.
Should I play Dishonored 2? I heard it sucks
>caring about the plot
Yes, absolutely. Only freaks play games without reading the books first. You don’t ever do that, do you?
What
He's probably talking about the in game books, lots of flavour text about the world in general, but I don't think anything important.
Books?
I wouldn't say Dishonored 2 outright sucks, but I did find it very disappointing. I'd still recommend it regardless though since there are so few games like it and you might feel differently. It's probably pretty cheap now I imagine.
it's a great game but it's short and the story is really dumb. it's definitely worth getting on sale
only ever played the first game. what do the books even cover?
You do for Dishonored 2, but Dishonored 2 is fanfiction trash anyway. They even go so far as to retcon the death/kidnapping of a target in the first game because the very idea that an evil woman can come to harm offended Anita Sarkeesian
>game never really explains it's setting very well
>except for a cutscene that plays when you sit idle on the main menu for a couple minutes
Dishonored 2 is a great game, the only thing that sucks about it is the story. but it’s not like you play the game for it’s story anyway
2 is great, I honestly don't get the hate for it considering gameplay wise it's basically more of the first one. It helps if you've played the Daud dlc before hand as it clears up some of the plot, but otherwise if you enjoyed the original, I can't you should definitely give it a go.
Yes
Never doubt it
