People don't realize you need to play on the higher difficulties for it to be enjoyable.

It's just boring.

It's a good game, but the gameplay itself is painfully mediocre. It has some good characters, side-quests, and vistas, but actually playing the game just doesn't give you much enjoyment.
The combat isn't horrible, but there's no depth to it. Many of the skills you get to pick when leveling up are about adding a % to your stats/damage somehow. There's a ton of shit to find in the game and plenty of armor and weapons - but if you craft the witcher armor/weapon sets (and there's little reason not to) 97% of the stuff you find won't be as good as what you've already have.
It's not a bad game, but it's very overrated. It's one of those rare games where everyone - casual gamers, experienced gamers, reviewers - all seem to love it. But nobody ever mentions the actual gameplay when they're praising it.

I dropped W3 at first as well. But I tried it again a month later and got so immersed that I played for hours until I finished. And I'm glad I did, because it's a good game.
So... I disagree that it needs to "get good within the first 3 hours", because W3 doesn't and it is still good.

You haven'y played many RPGs if this is literally the worst one in your view. It's an average RPG, but games like Star Ocean 4 manage to beat it out in mediocrity
