Dutch

>When I'm gone, they'll just find another monster.
>They have to, because they've got to justify their wages
Honestly I feel horrible for dutch in rdr1 after playing 2. Hes lost quite literally everything that made him who he was in the second game except for maybe his raging hate boner for the goverment. Its hard to tell if he was ever really good or if really did just become more of who he truly was in the end. Say what you want about the games but Dutch was written so fucking well. Really makes you hate him but at the same time makes you hate to hate him.

but he’s a woman killer

Dutch was always a bad man pretending to be good. Stop falling for his shit

Thats what makes him more harder to truly love as a character near the start of the game. Things like that in chapter 1 and 2 i think are meant to sow the seeds of doubt, which makes not seem impossible for him to go the way he goes in the end and not see it as so random that he just suddenly goes insane

He was never good.
However, the ending of RDR 2 makes it clear that he didn't fake it all - he was on that mountain to kill Micah for Arthur.

It's probably the last bit of humanity that he had left, and after that he's hit real rock bottom. I love how he's portrayed in RDR 1, really makes it feel like he was written with a prequel in mind (I know he wasn't, but still)

I believe that personally as well, but then he does things like help sadie and let her stay for a while instead of just leaving her in valentine to rot or saving jack like he did, as well as coming back to kill micah after so long. I think he was a 'bad'man at the start, but a completely morally deplorable one. Near the end though he lost all of that, especially sending those indians to die basically

I agree, but I think that alot of rdr1 was written with a prequel in mind personally.

>However, the ending of RDR 2 makes it clear that he didn't fake it all - he was on that mountain to kill Micah for Arthur.
What do you mean?

>be a piece of shit swindling criminal
>can't keep composure under pressure
>have a mental break down
>i f'weel baaaad fer ol' dutchy-poo

nah fuck him, op. marston was pretty based. morgan was a dumb donkey tho.

I always took it as him being a savage man spending his leisurely time before it all goes to shit covering it up with noble ideals that he probably truly did believe, but he couldn't deny his nature in the end. End of 2 and 1 is him fully embracing it instead of fighting a losing battle.

Dutch went to kill Micah because of what he's done to Arthur. That's why when John asks what he's doing there, he replies "same as you I suppose".

Given how Dutch cared more about his "image" and getting sucked up to more than even his closest friends, it must have taken him an enormous amount of effort to come to do this. So clearly, he cared deeply about Arthur, despite the events of chapter 6.

If morgan was dumb then marston is a pure retard admit it

I only liked Dutch in RDR2 because Arthur acts like such a moaning nagging bitch always whining and being a downer no matter what, it made Dutch more credible because Arthur came across as being a cunt just for the sake of being a cunt, especially when you antagonise people, his sarcastic wit just comes across as that bitter cunt who hates everything
However I lost all respect for Dutch when I discovered his notes in camp, I forget which camp it was, but there's a whole bunch of notes you can see he wrote up, practising for his various speeches in game, little anecdotes and phrases, they're all there
He peppers his speeches with them throughout the game and it honestly looks like more a con mans manual than him speaking from the bottom of his heart, especially the speech where he talks about putting himself in the ground in someone elses place (I forget who)
You know who he reminds me of? That guy Jack Black played in the modern King Kong movie, shitheel who pretended to care about the bigger picture and those around him but ultimately was revealed to only care about himself
Fuck Dutch, the Pinkertons were right - he led all those poor people astray with his bullshit

Most people rave about John and Arthur, and I guess that makes sense, they're really good, likable characters and they have some really emotional moments. But I always thought Dutch to be the real standout, in both games actually, the VA performance is fucking amazing and he's just a fascinating man. Honestly even after playing through both RDR 1 and 2 several times and listening to you faggots talk in circles about the games, I'm still pretty conflcited on what kind of a man Dutch really is. It's just really interesting how sincere he can appear and show deep care to his fellow gang members, often risking his very life, but then other times it all just seems like an act. And I thought, maybe its just inconsistent writing from rockstar, but no, the ending of RDR 2 makes it clear it's intended. You are left wondering WHY he was on that mountain - obviously to kill Micah yes, but was it because of his bruised ego or to revenge Arthur? He probably walked away from the money too because he was too embarassed having to share or show "weakness" by having to take money infront of John and Sadie.

I

doesn't count,wasn't white

>having any sympathy for dutch after what he did to arthur
wew lad

When Dutch says they’ll look for another monster, he’s indirectly and directly telling John he’s the next monster. John doesn’t realize it

>Goes insane and lives in a cave until he commits suicide
>The federal agents tell the masses that he was killed in a gun battle to make it more exciting.

I never really liked Dutch's character anyway. He was too proud and narcissistic of himself, but most cult leaders are. He felt like he could do no wrong, and if something went wrong it wasn't his fault or he'd try to justify why he was still right. He was a prime example of a cult leader. Also him reading all these philosophy books and shit just gave him an inflated ego. He wasn't as intelligent as he liked to have believed he was.

prequel game set right after the civil war where you follow the early shenanigans of Dutch and Hosea when??

I only want to play as the two brothers who died before the game started.

Yeah i found those notes as well in chapter 2, honestly it didnt change my opinion on him much i mean all sorts of people would take down notes when trying to inspire a lot of people like that so that they could remember. I did think arthir was a bit whingy at the start until I realised it was pretty justifies lol. Hes the only one in camp who actually brings food, money and supplies in notable quantaties and is the strongest the gang both physically and with his gun, maybe micahs a bit better with a gun. Id be pissed off to if I did everyones shit for them and lost all the credit to dutch. Not to mention arthur cared about losing people more than dutch

>slaver woman wasnt white
Ok lol

I want to play as hosea or dutch so bad man

ripe to be based they seem to of been ride or die literally

>we will never have a fully fleshed out guarma from which to escape the awfulness of nu-america

but he has a plan

>maybe micahs a bit better with a gun
i would love to have seen arthur duel micah at some point i remember in chapter 3 i think micah brings it up and arthur says he'll do it but then micah backs down

I cried.

God I knew the game was on time crunch buy holy shit that chapter was bad

i liked guarma

i thought he was a daydreaming fool with good intentions at first, but by ch4 i realized that he was full of shit and a manipulative sob.
He took advantage of arthur's loyalty and put him in danger everytime he could, he never cared about him.

True but micah would have needed a clean headshot because arthurs shown he can literally tank bullets to the chest

All a façade, if he didn't take her Arthur would pitch a fit and word would spread at camp. Shit was fucked he needed allies. Saving a girl got him bonus points from everyone. Same for Jack. Did he care? Yes. Did he care enough to let it get in the way of his greed? No. Jack was also a means to kill italian villian man justifiably by the gang instead of straight up murder.

>i liked guarma
How, that felt so unfinished

I think he was bipolar or something. You would come back to camp and he would sometimes start yelling about some imaginary betrayal or sometimes he just wouldn't talk at all and be really sullen.
