Should I just go ahead and play DMC5 or should I play through the first 4 games before that to get the ~ FULL EXPERIENCE ~?

Dmc 5 is great,
then play 4
Then DmC

Ideally yes. In reality it doesn't matter.
the second game doesn't exist, so it's just 3 games.

Just play 1 3 4 and 5

I played half way through 5 at a friends house it was my first dmc but I already knew some background knowledge so it wasn't that hard for me to get the experience

Yo only need to play DMC3 and DMC4. DMC1 is great, but not for everyone. 2 is trash.

don't listen to this guy playing 2 is important, while its fine to play dmc5 first the best is in release order. People who skip dmc2 are the same type of people who owned a DSi

????
Name one thing that really matters in DMC2 in order to get a better experience with the other titles.

Name one good thing about DMC2
>inb4 Dante's outfit

>DMC1 is great, but not for everyone.
Same for 3.

Buy the HD Collection
Play 1
Skip 2 (or play for 10 minutes then quit)
Play 3SE on PC then install the DDMK mod after your first playthrough
Play 4SE
Play 5, install mods and wait for Vergil DLC (or buy 5SE if you're a next-gen console pl*b)
Finally play DmC:DE (console exclusive though)

It makes 3 all the better by comparison.

wallrunning

What's so trash about 2?

>should I play through the first 4 games before
Yes, except no one ever told you to play 2. Don't play 2.

>Then DmC
Shut the fuck up.

3 is a good game even in a vacuum. Playing 2 to make 3 seem better would be like eating shit to make your steak seem better.

Eh, i LOVE DMC1. The thing is that game is more like RE than the others, which is fine, because is the first one, but the OP wants to play DMC5 so the best game to start, in this case, is DMC3.

all of the enemies are bullet sponges
the story sucks
the melee weapons do no damage so you basically spam guns the whole game and its super boring

The dodge animation.

I don't recommend 1 unless you're into retro games. 3-5 are all great entries that most modern gamers can appreciate.

For some reason it doesn't have as much focus on melee combat and makes you use guns more which is just button mashing, and horrible enemy design where you can literally just stand still and shoot at a lot of them them, including bosses. Wasn't made by the original team and they had no idea what they were doing.

It was functionally only developed in 6 months, it's as non-canon as corporate pride will allow, the series directly laughs at it and 5's summary of it was just "Dante went to a island and stopped a guy"

If you're interested in the story then you need to play 1,3 and 4 first.

It's safe to skip 2 and DmC. 2 has no importance to the story and they mostly pretend it doesn't exist. Sadly Lucia is wasted on this dumpset fire. DmC is a terribly misguided reboot and they debooted it into DMC5. DMC5 does use a few of things that originated in DmC but it's nothing to do with the story.

>devs get feedback that muh gunz too weak
>guns are now overpowered
>in a game about being stylish with melee weapons

I also like seeing things all the way through regardless of if its good

>still can't find a PS5 so I can play the physical copy of DMC5SE that's just sitting on my desk taunting me.

That's absolutely fine, and I personally recommend people play 2 just to see for themselves how terrible it is, but that doesn't make playing 2 important as originally stated.

>Vergil: "Dante, it was awful. I kept telling her no by those thicc thighs weren't for show. Forget what father told us. Thicc thighs ruin lives..."

At least play 3 and 4, they set up the current DMC formula

Play them all.
DMC1 was "Onimusha but not shit".
DMC2 was an amazing management fuckup.
DMC3 was an apology for 2.
DMC4 was an amazing management fuckup.
DmC was an amazing regular fuckup.
DMC5 is an apology for the last 2.

>Thicc thighs ruin lives...
They leave you on your own with a damaged unga.

DMC 3-5 are one of the best button mashing games that give the illusion of depth because you can perform a lot of moves.

That said the enemies are fucking sandbags.

Why yeah DMC1 ist he best. How come you tell??

Did he die?

What eclectic taste.

No, just mildly irritated.

Always have a hard time telling people to play through each DMC game ONCE to get to the latest one. I feel like you need to play 1,3, and 4 multiple times to really get the full picture of why everyone loves them.

I just started DMC2 after beating 1 and what I hate about it right now is that they removed the delay combos from 1. It's cool that guns launch the enemy after they take enough hits though.

As someone playing through 3 for the first time, I kinda get why HP pools feel as high as they do. The pro is it raises the skill ceiling and makes it feel like a feat to kill and enemy and give them no chance to retaliate. The con is that encounters can get overly clunky if you rely on button mashing too much.
I think it's shallow-minded to say that the quantity of moves gives the illusion of depth instead of actually providing a rich, if not immediately cumbersome, set of tools. There's subtle elements to each move that give most of them a unique place and the game actively encourages you to properly apply them. The foundation behind DMC games is closer to fighting games than action games and the moves reflect this

You'll hate much more than that by the time it's over.
Remember to concentrate on upgrading guns.

It wouldn't matter. Just play 5 and grow an inevitable disregard for the previous entries as you hold it as the series peak.

Except for 3 because that ones still good

Spare yourself the time. The series has style but it's a buttonmash fest of the dumbest variety. They should just make a movie instead of shilling it as a game.

Just play 3 4 5

1 if you want to

skip 2

Maybe if you're bad
