>METROIDO

fusion got a lot of shit but it was way better than other M

why does nintendy hate metroid

i agree

It was an in-house Nintendo series that didn't Mario/Zelda/Animal Crossing numbers, so it got the boot. Just like Star Fox and F-Zero.

Other M get lot of vitrol, but game isn't exactly bad.

I mean, story really bogs down the whole thing, but game mechanics are pretty solid and could be very well polished into something better.

But fuck those scan thing segments, i thought my game softlocked on tropical area.

they don't hate it, they released the remake of the second game in 2017, and prime 4 will come out in the next few years

He doesnt hate it, i think is more like a pride thing. If you watch a Super Metroid documentary the game was basically a Development Hell, but only because it was pushed to the limits because of how the creators wanted to do a creative aproach. So they just dont think they can top it. Why do you think they scrapped Metroid prime 4? They know it was shit.

What is it about Metroid that makes pic related seethe? Is it the half ounce of effort they put into character design and aesthetics?

it's not childish and dumbed-down enough for that hack fraud miyamoto.

honestly my intention of this thread was to talk about metroid games, but complaining about how there in no new games is also my cup of tea

It’s really not even great from a gameplay perspective. The game is coloring-book linear all the way up until the literal postgame. Missiles are horrible for anything except bosses because using them kills your mobility. There’s nothing to scan in the environments, unlike the Prime trilogy. Countering is compulsory for most enemy types and is both too easy to pull off and absurdly broken. The Where’s Waldo segments are peak bullshittery. Outside of the visuals and a few remixes, I can’t think of anything the game does well.

new 2d metroid when bros?

Next year for sure.

>but game mechanics are pretty solid and could be very well polished into something better.

Nah the whole "change the wii mote from horizontal to vertical for missiles" was uncomfortable as fuck and clunky because of all the switching from 3rd person to first. And just getting free energy and missiles whenever made combat pretty easy. I know combat has never been difficult in a Metroid game but if there was a time to get adrenaline pumping in a Metroid game because of low health this was it.

I mean, Nintendo released one 3 only years ago...

I like most metroid games but the genre is stuck in the past. People need to start coming up with some new mechanics instead of just tacking some sad story on or focusing exclusively on the breadth of the world. One of my favorite genres is just becoming a series of going through the motions.

It's weird how nintendo is overzealous as fuck with Metroid and Fzero, prime almost didn't happened because super was that good.

Even when prime and fusion/ZM became a thing, SM still hold the gold standard for metroid. But that's a real good thing since it make the whole franchise less fuckup prone.

definitely thinking about replaying it honestly, i did really like it even if AM2R did kinda sting

Hopefully next year, just played the first 4 earlier this year for the first time and loved them

>”just here to talk about Metroid”
If you’re fishing for a ckum brain thread of Samus in her Zero Suit or wanting barefeet, you should’ve been honest from the beginning.

nintendo acts one way with metroid, but the last f-zero game came out 16 years ago, thats a hard comparison to draw

i think thats what you want

I feel that other m skeleton could work well if it didn't had to be so fucking linear and actually used the usual drop mechanics, I mean you basically go from A to B till post game, even fusion give some leeway to fuck around.

Remove this, make enemies more dangerous and and aggressive, plus much bigger areas. But then at this point i'm just talking about polishing the turd.

i think that's what you want...

Yeah, I’m guilty of it. But I’m not gonna upload anything, and I won’t cave in.

No big sales numbers, only mediocre-good sales numbers

and in nintendo's eyes it didn't apeal to a huge crowd

>still no prime 4 footage, not even a teaser
>still no new 2D metroid
>can't even get a prime trilogy port
>there will be nothing at TGA

>Nintendo give development back to retro rather than let bamco outsource to some chink sweatshop.

You should be glad you ungrateful cunt.

I am, still nothing to tide me over tho. SR was good but largely unnecessary imo

i guess nintendo could port trilogy right now so that is the only thing they could do better, and metroid prime 4 is out of nintendo's hands

>metroid prime 4 is out of nintendo's hands
???

it's being made by retro studios

Fusion was fantastic in handling story-based in the 2D environment and had a better "Dark" Samus than the prime games. It's the best of all the 2D games, but Prime 1 and 2 were the peak of Metroid as a whole.

And guess who owns Retro studios?

I bet you are one of those retards that think Xenoblade is a third party game.

Attached: 1450904005498.jpg (450x539, 50.54K)

retro is a complete nintendo studio, internal nintendo employees are also in charge of the project (specifically Kensuke Tanabe and Shinya Takahashi)

The SA-X is probably one of the only times I've been legitimately unnerved in a game as an adult

Do we ever see who is under that armor in any of the Metroid games? Who is really under there?

and they were right. Damnit I wish it garnered more sales

>copy pasted samus you meet about 2 times is better than dark samus
nah

>"change the wii mote from horizontal to vertical for missiles"
I thought that was the most clever design decision they made
