After playing all dmc games many times I still can't choose what my favorite dmc game is between 3 and 5. I would like to hear what you guys like more and why
Devil May Cry
5 is objectively the best.
However for their times of release, I would say DMC3 was more impressive. Because of this, I see regarding 3 as the best game to be a respectable answer.
On a technical level, 5 is better (minus for V). On an emotional level, 3 is largely better
>t. played them all for the first time a year ago
My favourite is DmC Devil May Cry, come at me niggers
Is DMC even canon to main series?
Personally, 5 would be my favourite if it still had Shibata in the OST
The soundtrack in 5 is great, but i just can't see DMC without the industral shit it always had, so 3 is my favorite
Nope, it was intended as reboot, flopped and got killed
3 has much better exploration and adventure aspects. But 5 has better gameplay, objectively more characters (now that vergil is added) and is a more fun bloody palace simulator with less annoying enemies. Outside of the main campaign 5 is significantly better, only thing I missed from 3 was agni and ruda.
That said, 3 is more fun to play through the first time because exploring teme-ni-gru is way better than the 5 campaign and it has a better plot as well. But 5 is better.
>The soundtrack in 5 is great, but i just can't see DMC without the industral shit it always had
I feel the same way. DMC5 must be the first OST I've both enjoyed and been disappointed in. Devil Trigger, Bury the light etc. are great and all, but I just need me some shootie HG screaming in my ear or it ain't DMC mang.
>agni and ruda
The bosses or the weapons?
Yeah, really
I think i'd be satisfied if at least Dante's theme was by Shootie, it's such a fucking no brainer man, but i guess at least i've learned to love Subhuman
I dont think anyone misses Agni and Rudra the boss
Kinda unfair too, since dmc2 was so shit that dmc3 was a huge boost in everything. I wonder what we would have thought if dmc3 was second.
Is the series worth getting into now? I haven't played any of the games besides 5
Speak for yourself, royalguardlet
fucking stupid zoomer
No, they are all terrible, i'd recommend just playing a game like Fortnite or something
My favorite for fun was the ninjatheory DmC remake
Favorite for substance was 3
DmC 1 might actually be good if the remaster wasn't so bad, I played it on the HD collection on PC with a controller and there were some parts that the camera literally wouldn't face the direction I wanted and caused me to die over and over. But once I got the gloves and grenade launcher it was easy, just not fun
DmC 2 was a joke, dmc 4 was a good intro to Nero and honestly the graphics hold up great but the combos were so much less than 3 that it felt like a downgrade. I did really like 4 though.
Overall scale for me would be
3 > dmc remake > 5 > 4 > 1 > 2
dmc 1 remake going to be announced tomorrow
If I was only going to play one DMC game which would you suggest? I actually have a copies of 1 and 2 lying around for my PS2 but never played them.
I personally like 3 better.
The art style was pleasing to the eyes, for one.
I like that it's simpler than 5 and you get to play as Dante throughout the ENTIRE game. As fun as Nero is, V is a boring piece of shit (in before 'just get good', that's not the issue and you know it) and Dante is the most likeable of the playable characters.
3's story is also a lot tighter and Vergil wasn't wanked over so hard at that point. 5 really put a bad taste in my mouth surrounding Vergil and Itsuno's obsession with him.
If you havent played any and were to play just ONE, go with 5. DMC5SE has 3 characters that are crazy fun to play and one other that is a cute novelty but doesnt go much further than that.
If you are on PC or last gen then you can get Vergil as DLC on the 15th
3 or 5, but if you've got DMC1 on PS2 then just play that. It was groundbreaking when it came out and still holds up decently today.
3, for certain. 5 is good but it relies HEAVILY on previous games for the story to have any significance.
DMC5>DmC>DMC3>DMC1>DMC2
Fight me faggots.
Ok I'm gonna play 1 on my PS2 and if I dig it I'll pick up 5, thanks
its gonna be quite polarizing going from 2001's DMC1 to 2019's DMC5, but go ahead. Might be fun to see how the series evolved in such a way
1 and 3 are my favorites and I replay them often.
4 and 5 were fine too but probably won't replay them any time soon.
DmC was really dumbed down and I hated the story and characters with a burning passion but I also found it really replayable.
2 is actually so shit it's fascinating almost.
Yes, play them all if you want to
I myself wish Capcom got away from scanning models. There's no reason you can't just design the character by hand and it seems like such a bloated and expensive waste.
Based, fuck newfags
Just play in release order you goddamn retards
thats at the same level of saying dmc2 is your favorite
DMC3
>story
>plot
>fucking stupid but cutscene direction
DMC5
>weapons
>enemies
>bosses
>music
There is no perfect DMC game. I prefer 5 because it's more fun with less nofun bullshit that infected too many of 3's enemies, and every level between Vergil 2 and 3 is fucking awful.
>yeah, I'll just start with the most recent game in a long franchise
>the most modern and polished one that might fuck with my expectations
Why the fuck does anyone do this. My buddy's only MGS is V, I tried to get him to play 3 and he just couldn't do it. When I thought a modern game like MGSV, RE2, or DMC5 looked cool when I never touched the franchise before, I played the whole series up to that point. Playing out of release order is fucking stupid.
3 is my favorite and has the best story telling. I consider it my favorite game of all time. At the same time, I struggle to say it's better than 5. It is in story telling, but not by that much. 5's gameplay is significantly better in almost every way, my only complaint being it's too easy.
4 has the most technically complex gameplay, but outside of that I don't like it. Other than Credo. It's still a decent game, but not comparable to 3 and 5.
>DMC series turns 20 years old next year
>as does Ace Attorney
>as does Halo
2001 really was a kickass year for gaming.
There was a lot of cool in that game when you look past the edge.
I liked Osiris a lot. I hope we go back to Dante/Vergil, and maybe even Nero getting cool weapons named after mythological figures.
I want to see a Whip with a sweetspot at the end named Lilith.
Those two make one of the best fights in the series. Only thing that would make it a better is a slightly bigger area to fight in.
