You have unlimited lifes.

I know it’s fun being an epic contrarian and getting that dopamine rush from >(you)’s, but Jak 2 is objectively shit and it killed the franchise for many people.
It was a boring, ultrahard soulless gta clone and a betrayal of everything the first game was.

I like how coward op will never reply to this post.

You don't have to reply to something that doesn't say anything that needs to be argued against.

Filtered.

Punishing game design with few checkpoints is good and makes the challanges more rewarding to overcome, provided the gameplay is fair, which Jak 2 frequently isn't. That said, it pays off more often then not.

Samefag.

You get unlimited continues, how is it punishing? Just try again.

I already said.
>with few checkpoints
The punishment for dying in most modern games is having to replay stuff to get back to where you were again. In Jak 2 you have to play through a significant amount if you die towards the end of a level. I think this is a good thing normally.

OP doesn’t even get a (You) so why do you retarded newfags think replies are just like your plebbit upvotes

>I know it’s fun being an epic contrarian and getting that dopamine rush from >(you)’s

This is a Zig Forums thing on most other boards people just discuss to discuss regardless of who responds to them or not. The whole point is nerds and degenerates discussing pointless nerd and degenerate stuff on a hobby imageboard.

>but Jak 2 is objectively shit and it killed the franchise for many people. It was a boring, ultrahard soulless gta clone

I disagree not only did the series prosper with 4 more entries and some spinoffs but it introduced new fans by unironically chasing trends. Also it was never hard just annoying with the racing missions.

>and a betrayal of everything the first game was

Agree with this it was supposed to be a collectathon inspired series with a weird, mystic cartoony world. We went from concepts like eco, ant-eater statues that talk and small villages being attacked by weird monsters to a generic dystopia plot.

Why are you encouraging him?

I wanna see if I'll ever be proven wrong and finally encounter a supposed shitposter who can actually break the stereotype and discuss things in a non retarded manner. But mostly boredom before I hit the hay.

You can tell their retardation level by their first post. Maybe you get lucky and they were just having a bad moment, but that never happens and I only know it's possible because I've been the retard before.

>ultrahard
98% of the enemies in the game literally dies in 2 shots how is that hard

I have alredy proven you wrong here

>user makes a counter claim to OPs post
>noooo stop replying to him just keep shitposting bro
you're whats killing discussion on this grovel

If had any worthwhile to say I wouldn't have a problem. "Jak 2 is a bad game" isn't even a hard position to bat for, but they still couldn't do it. They insulted people who like the game, made a bunch of subjective comments, appealed to the popular opnion of the game, and called it a clone. None of that will lead to a good discussion, no matter what game it's posted about.

>Jak 2
>hard
Do you have brain damage?

Jak needed to get away from the yucky cartoony nonsense of the first game. It needed to evolve into a mature game for a mature audience. Having guns and violence and a darker atmosphere really elevated it to a masterpiece, which would've never happened if it kept with the childish BING BING WAHOO aesthetic of the first game.

>the childish BING BING WAHOO aesthetic of the first game.
The game is childish at times but it's never that bad. The precursor areas are an interesting style that I haven't seen captured well anywhere else.

Both in its gameplay and how it confused people who skipped from 1 to 2.

But the cartoony squash and stretch animations are top notch and, since the industry adopted realism as the go to for big budget games, will never be replicated or surpassed
>that animation when Daxter grabs Jak's hair not to fall from Jak's shoulder when he does the spinning kick
>Daxter arms stretch when he grabs Jak's shoulder armour when he does the foward punch
The darker setting wasn't actually that dark and wouldn't be out of place in a disney movie.
>the change in Daxter expression when Jak turns into Dark Jak
The story is well thought and the gameplay is great. The game still remains as one of Ps2 GOATs and the best game Naughty Dog has ever made.

For me, 3 was what killed the franchise. It was rushed and it showed. The story had important pieces totally removed. They added more and more stuff but forgot how to make the challeging gameplay that allowed certain freedom to the player. In jak 3 you have millions of powers from the two forms, hundreds of weapons and hundreds of cars. Yet the missions can only be beaten in one way: the way the devs wanted, so it can be a cool cinematic setpiece to watch, like in the Uncharted games. Giving more options to the player actually removed the freedom of choice.

The big desert is basically empty. The blaster reflector basically made all weapons obsolete. You can just spinkick blast to clear any room, and since every enemy drops ammo, it never becomes an issue. The final boss lets you fucking HEAL whatever you want, removing any challenge and making it one of the most anticlimatic endings of a videogame.

I'm not even particularly good at video games and I am baffled people somehow got through that game up to that point without learning how to parry.

Fuck, I need to proofread my shit before hitting send.

Still, the Jak Trilogy is a one time thing and will never be replicated. There were talks about a reboot, more gritty, mature and darker, that finally turned into what Last Of Us was. That I don't think it would actually work with the original designs, that were meant to be cartoony all along.

Best boss and best music. I like how radically different is from Raiden. While Jack and most of the bosses are a straighfoward "I hit you with a stick until you die" fighters, the guy has a really big bag of tricks you need to learn how to deal with.

Might be due to the diffeculty people played at. I started my first playthrough on hard and once I got to Bladewolf he dabbed it on me so I had to learn parrying in that fight. Also didn't use heals.
If you play on normal and with heals equipped you can run through the game until Monsoon without really learning how to parry. At this point you just get rekt by him constantly attacking you if you can't parry his combos.

This is the most souless shitty I've ever seen, incredible how Naughty Dog can't even process the concept of just making a cartoony game again. Everything needs to be realistic as possible, and because of that I hope Jak and Daxter stays dead for good.

Best game in the series desu.

It's just unforgiving, especially with races that are at time pure luck based depending on how NPC vehicles spawn.

Jak I is a slightly above average 3D platformer which is only remarkable for showcasing new technology.
Jak III is good but way too easy.

It's the big ears. They can't work in a realistic design. Also Jak's core design is so late 90s early 00s (blonde dreads, goatee, Mad Max/star wars inspired attires) it can't work today.

The world is full of potential, tho. It's a shame it hasn't been explored

>especially with races that are at time pure luck based depending on how NPC vehicles spawn.
You can actually get good and dominate races if you practice enough, but most people understandably can't be bothered to do that. My teenage self enjoyed the challenge tho.

Also, standard driving isn't hard once you understand that the game wants you to change lanes constantly.

Jak 3 showed that they basically ran out of ideas. That's why they thought a reboot might be needed. I'm just happy they never touched it and came up with new IPs for the Ps3, even if I don't enjoy them as much.
