Ideas that sound good on paper, but that they're too dumb to realize aren't fun.
shit is kino, not so much ludo, largely a retread of oot really
Atmosphere, music, relaxing sailing, charming characters are unrivaled by any other Zelda game imo. It sounds like a buzword but its by far the comfiest Zelda and my personal personal favorite.
shota
I remember being really turned off by this game's art style when I was younger and wondering if it was my problem. It was basically the reason I didn't bother with the Gamecube. Glad to see it isn't just me.
I like sailing in real life, but it’s not an activity I get to do very often. It’s a nice fantasy the be able to play out. Same reason why I like AC black flag and odyssey really, or Sid Meier’s Pirates. WW just has the advantage of also being a Zelda title.
Whimsey, motherfucker
no bugs at launch
Toon link is not for lewd
The other links are fair game
autism
Used the Toon aesthetic before it became trendy to do so.
There is nothing about wind waker that is good in 2020 aside from historical significance, everything this game does has since been done better.
Best character designs and best story in Zelda. I would kill to get the Wind Waker great fairies in another game.
Artsy hipster shit that was rightfully hated when it came out but now loved by Ocarina contrarians.
not hardly, no one has realistic proportions, gay shit right there
I like wind waker link for the aspect that he wasn't part of any prophecy and became a hero despite fate
>everything this game does has since been done better.
A lot of people like Mario Galaxy 2 over Mario Galaxy 1. That doesn't mean most/if not all those same people didn't still enjoy Mario Galaxy 1.
Of course they don't, the game is stylized as fuck, if they had twilight princess characters or even skyward sword characters running around it would be so weird.
Reminds them of the cartoons they still watch.
>the game is stylized as fuck,
that's a polite way of putting it
It's zoomers first zelda game.
I liked the enemy designs. One of the many reasons I hate PH is that they "changed" the style including making Link have the downs and redesigning the enemies to look like goofy (er) trash.
>Striking and distinct art direction that makes for highly expressive characters, even asking random townspeople
>Great atmosphere
>Interesting take on the Link, Zelda, Ganon trinity
>Some of the best music in the series
>Fun and unique items
>Solid dungeons, even if there aren't many of them
>Fun to fight bosses
>Cool finale
Its strengths manage to make up for its weaknesses for many and it's one of the most memorable entries. TP, SS, and BotW are pretty forgettable by comparison.
Wind Waker was the start of soi-oriented Nintendo.
>Fun and unique items
I disagree. The items themselves weren't interesting or unique, but their art was. All the bags look great, the hammer is the best looking hammer in the series, the collectable monster drops are all colorful, I can keep going but I won't.
well the ultimate fact is that for zoomers it was the first 3D Zelda to be released while we were conscious beings..
it’s whimsical and fun but still felt big and scary... I see a lot of people hating on the sailing but the sense of adventure it tapped into at the time was a feeling that i don’t think anything else had captured before at that point (and obviously it would have to scale to modern reference points but) or since
It’s so video gamey. Music and character designs rock. It was totally playable as a kid but it felt like it respected you...
and best zelda
It was the last 3D zelda to include a pretty big repertoire of items that were all used pretty well, especially things like the deku leaf and skull hammer
TP introduced some cool items like the spinner and ball & chain which were never used outside of the dungeon you found them in, and it was at this point when they switched to having a "quick wheel" for the item menu.
SS had about 8 items total which was disappointing as fuck, and BotW shits on the zelda formula entirely so I don't care about that
Basically I just miss having a menu screen filled with items that were all useful in some way, ALBW was a step in the right direction and a proper return to the series' roots of emphasising exploration, not the janky ubisoft game that BotW was.
I don't know what's hotter, this tomboy pirate, or the fact that she got magically feminized.
The funny part is SS is still pretty widely disliked. It is easily the worst main line Zelda game by far
I dont mind the wheel, I genuinely LOVE the Wii U gamepad inventory management though.
What are you talking about? There have been people who love Wind Waker ever since it came out, before zoomers could comprehend what a video game was.
I love TP, it wasn't my first Zelda that goes to either OoT, MM or WW through its demo disk, as I had that collectors edition on Gamecube as a youngin. TP is just so barren and empty I really like that feeling it gives you I totally get why some people don't click with it but for me its so addicting and just draws me in.
Shitty cringe Toon Art Style
You missed out on GC Twilight Princess.
explain to me how this was a good idea?
>nice artstyle that still holds up to his day
>nice departure from the norm with sailing and tropical theme
>story was a more basic one than Ocarina but still paid homage to it enough to still believably be part of the continuity
>fun dungeon ideas that pushed the 3D nature of the game more than Ocarina of Time did
I doubt anyone says its the best Zelda but it was still unique and fun enough to hold up to this day. Also fuck off with the reddit shit, Zeldafags hated this game until Skyward Sword came out and only pretended to like it because "it wasn't skyward sword".
The mods.
Worst main LoZ title. Maybe a bit better than Skyward Sword but not by much.
>low res .jpg
Cmon user and I think it looks great whats their to not like? does every game have to have realistic graphics or those shitty ass PS2 era graphics where everything was grey and brown and dull and flat? Wind Waker fucking POPS.
Fuck it post to quick, Anyway.
Even early PS3 games look worse than Wind Waker simply due to that art style you dont have shitty blurry low res textures trying to feign realism.
I unironically LOVE the story and the theme of where evil kind of wins but life still goes on just like in breath of the wild. Toon link, even if he isn't completely fleshed out, has a really good character and actually grows into a proper hero who wants to protect the people he loves. Sailing is pretty fun and the islands really made it seem like there was always something to do. Since I played it as a kid, it's easily in the top 10, maybe even top 5 games of all time for me
also medli is the best girl
nothing wrong with cartoony but chibi is for faggots and pedos
Zoomers like you are ruining the board
i hated the character models not gonna lie
But its not Chibi? I dont know what Chibi is exactly but WW doesn't seem like that to me, Link is still very detailed and so are the environments but the textures play to the strengths of the console allowing the rooms to have a ton of cool stuff where as even the PS3 was struggling to not have a flat square room 4 years later, and the PS2 good god remember how many PS2 games like DrakenGard never had rolling hills? The console of the time would shit themselves trying to render high detail (for the time) environments with large poly counts its the same reason as Morrowind was only ported to Xbox and even that beast of a machine could barely handle it. Where as WW still has a ton of variance in the islands.
I wish it had twice as many enemies and actual rewards on the world map. Say what you want about BotW, but at least Korok gave an incentive for exploration. Meanwhile rupees are fucking useless most of the time.
youtube.com
People forget how poor 6th gen games looked at the time even Dark Cloud a game I coom at to this day has extremely basic and barren flat landscapes where their is very little variance in the landscape.
>OMG CEL SHADING!!1!!!
big heads and giant bug eyes were a huge fad in the late 90s and early 2000s
seeing LoZ go that direction was pretty wtf back then
still is to be honest
But it pays off user the game is still very easy on the eyes to this day where as other games of the era unless you grew up with them look fucking atrocious.
