Fallout 4 has a cover system

What ?

Every stat in the Souls games. The effects of most rings, too.

Like 90% of Warframe I guess.

This is more me being retarded, because why would a JRPG need to tell the player this, but I went through all of Persona 3 without realizing I could sell old equipment and items. I was strapped for cash most of the game and was almost never kitted out properly because of it.

Parrying in the original ninja gaiden for the xbox hueg.
God damn I'm such a retard. I got to the skeleton demon fight too.

really?

You can pogo off of spikes in Hollow Knight. Took me awhile to even realize you can swing your nail downwards in the air as well.

exactly
yes

My parents never talked to me about sex. I think I was around 15 when I realized girls didn't have penises. A couple of months later I found out that I had to pull my foreskin back for sex and that was a game changer.

Rallying and beasthood in Bloodborne. I genuinely did not figure out how to rally back HP on purpose until after my first playthrough. I never got good at parrying either.

In my defense, it was my first FromSoft game.

would u fug bijou though?

I've played half of horizon zero dawn with the first bow and rope caster thing without realizing that i can buy better ones

In Diablo 2 your defense drops to 0 if you run instead of walk.

>My parents never talked to me about sex.
Haha me too bro. I don't blame them, that would be awkward as hell; I know I won't be talking to my kids about it.

Yeah, me too.
Still feels weird.

The backflip in Rondo of Blood. Unfortunately you pretty much need it to beat the 2spooky boss in stage 7 when he summons the behemoth.

That actually won't impact you as much as forgetting to upgrade weapons in most games, since the upgrade is more ammo types and modification slots rather than just a straight damage boost.

>Not accidentally seeing your mom's unshaven pussy at 9 years old and being fucking terrifyed

bullshit, you can't not know about sex at that age even if your parents never told you

agility in darksouls2

Not everybody had free reign on the internet back when they were that young like you.

STAB in pokemon is the most criminal example of this shit

sorry we're going to handhold you for literally everything except the 2nd most important thing to know in the entire fucking series. (with type matchups being the first)

We were really poor so we didn't get internet. The few times people at school would make sex jokes I would just pretend I knew what was going on.

I think some games have dialogue that implies a pokemon using a move that matches their type will increase damage, but it's always from some random NPC and can be easily missed.

I played through Oblivion in it's entirety without knowing that you could fast travel. It wasn't until fallout 3 came out that I realized fast travel was a thing. I remember getting the message when you discover enough locations and thinking "I wonder if this works in oblivion too" and it did.

There have been cases in Conservative Christian areas where people have gotten married and neither partner knows about sex.

Pretty sure it's outright stated a few times.
Ten-year-old me was so convinced of STAB being the best that 90% of my pokes just ran only STAB moves.

Climbing in System Shock 2. I skipped the tutorial and didn't expect such an old game to have such a mechanic. Got stuck in Rickenbacker because of it.

you retard sex is instinctive

I also didn't have internet as a kid but there were late night shows on tv.

Maybe, but the "stronger but slower" bow can actually pop the back of the firefuckers
Without that they are a chore to beat

Boosters in Freelancer. I kept buying the upgrade components and thinking "I wonder if there's a hotkey to activate them, or if they're just automatic". I kept forgetting to check. One of the last mission is getting locked in a tiny arena against twenty ships that all have the ability to shoot homing missiles that move at 101% of your unboosted top speed, which they shoot frequently. I still beat it.

Didn't have cable either.

Are you sure that wasn't just 10 y/o you thinking your charizard should only run fire type moves cause it's a fire type? As a very long time pokefag I can really only remember STAB being implied by non important NPCs and I only started noticing that when I already knew about STAB. Of course I was a dumbass kid and possibly didn't notice it before.

I think it's one of those things that you don't need to state because most kids would just think it makes sense and do it anyway. Now as for the "why" you would do that, I have no clue, but I guess it's technically not needed.

I couldn't read when I first started playing video games so I played through all of morrowind without being able to read anything and I had no understanding of what anything did. I remember getting stuck inside the main building because I couldn't figure out what to do, eventually walked outside, and got killed by a mudcrab. I had to restart my game because I didn't know what I did. I also lost all of my starting items because I tried looting a dead body and though that my items were in the dead body, so I "looted" my own items into the body and left. I spent a lot of time just wandering around doing nothing at all and not understand how the game worked, but eventually I figured out some of the mechanics and started playing the game for real even though I couldn't read any of the dialogue. I mostly wandered and killed/got killed by random enemies.

I talked to everyone in the game and I know someone said something about it. Surely some random NPC wouldn't lie about things so it must be true.

Actually related, in harvest moon my cow stopped giving milk and I had no idea that you had to rent a bull to get it pregnant for more.

Didn't know you could parry in MGS:R untill the second boss punishes you for not figuring it out. Also didn't know you could move the sword until Sundowner punishes you for not knowing
