This area FUCKING SUCKS
This area FUCKING SUCKS
But why would it? Don't you like buzzsaws?
I can deal with the buzzsaws. What I do not appreciate in the slightest is how the area keeps setting traps for you that lurk JUST beyond the screen boundary and are impossible to know about until you cross the boundary and immediately run into them. Very frustrating and obnoxious level design.
So you dislike the fact that you can't see the entire screen at once? I mean, sure, but do you really hate that? Trying your best to reach a new area and then trying to figure out how to get through it is fun. I feel like this is one of those moments, where you are angry right now, but after you beat it, you'll realize it was fun.
The whole idea is that you're meant to reach an area with new, surprising traps and adapt to them.
Keeping walljumping as you assess the next threat, or pogo-jump on the sawblades as you determine where to land.
Yes, I do actually hate that. It's pure trial and error bullshit. It feels like fighting a boss that unzips untelegraphed instakill attacks at irregular percentages of his HP, that are impossible to know about or predict beyond just grinding the fight a shitload of times until you have it memorized when he'll pull them out and how to dodge purely on reaction. And no, after I beat it, I don't feel better about it. Here's my Void Heart cheevo proving I did it. I don't complain about bosses or platforming sections that I haven't already beat. I feel nothing but annoyance towards this nonsense.
this game is so good its crazy how pathetic every other game on earth is compared to this mastapeace
beat path of pain the get back to us
I beat the palace and watched the path of pain cutscene on youtube because fuck that
Eh, sure I see your point, I've just been so used to seeing this that I stopped caring. Whether I'm fighting a boss or platforming, when I die unexpectedly from a new attack, I just go "ah, so I need to be prepared for that, got it" instead of getting upset at the fairness. It feels odd to me to know all of a platforming section immiadetly even, but that's just how I am. I can imagine that people who aren't used to this get quite annoyed and it's sad to see that you still dislike it even after beating it, since that means you did actually hate it. Do you not find this annoying when fighting bosses then?
I will tell you even more - whole game fucking sucks. Nothing more than overhyped platformer.
I don't feel like that when fighting HK bosses because HK bosses usually do not behave like this. I already said what kind of boss the white palace feels like fighting.
>a boss that unzips untelegraphed instakill attacks at irregular percentages of his HP, that are impossible to know about or predict beyond just grinding the fight a shitload of times until you have it memorized when he'll pull them out and how to dodge purely on reaction
and I would dislike that too, if it ever appeared. But that's not how Team Cherry designs bosses because they know that would be bullshit. And it's still bullshit when they pull equivalent stunts in their platforming bits. If they're gonna design a whole level around repeatedly trolling me, they're going to succeed in making me mad, and I'm not going to stop being mad just because it's over. The place will always be a bad memory because I will always remember how stupid it was to go through it blind, no matter how many times I replay the game.
Oh because it's White I get it.
>platformer
It's not a platformer though. Know your genres before talking.
A real bruh moment.
White palace isn’t even fucking hard at all you retard. It’s literally nothing compared to Path of pain.
They clearly dont know what they're talking about then
Also
>PCGamer
the design isn't too bad
i just went in expecting a lore dump/exposition because the story up until that point had been kind of bare-bones
It's quite frustrating some parts. But it was easy as there is a chair nearby as a checkpoint.
I recommend that you equip the amulet in the shape of honey, it is much easier that way.
>only i am right, everyone else is wrong
>by: anonymous
Sure it has platfomer element but it's mainly a Metroid-like game first and foremost.
So no it's not a platformer game like Super Meat Boy or whatever.
yeah white palace was quite the cringe area. The game had solid pacing and difficulty up until then, and then it just SPIKES because "LOL PLATFORM HELL XDDD." It's kinda like if you were playing metroid and then suddenly one of the bosses became a bullet hell boss.. sure the devs can technically do it, and other games do it, but why the fuck would you do it?
>Metroid-like game
Metroid wasn't a platformer? Fucking retard.
Ok you're just dumb. Shouldnt have wasted my time talking to a retard.
so there's no genre difference between SMB and metroid or castlevania?
Hiveblood, go full retard, ez game
It took me 30 minutes to get through and I'm 40 years old. Git gud retard
Super Meat Boy is great. Fuck you, OP.
(OP)
grubsong + grubberfly's elegy + deep focus makes you unkillable, much better than hiveblood shit
cant even tell where this is supposed to be because it looks the same as every other area in the game
>because it looks the same as every other area in the game
Well no if you have functioning eyes.
this is the area where this stale meme applies the least in the entire game by far, retard
i beat it too. it's just a bad addition to the game
>text in the image explicitly stating where it is
>"DURRRRRR, I CAN'T TELL WHERE THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE"
Learn to read, you stupid bum.
I loved it honestly, but maybe I'm biased since I like both HK's movement controls and platforming. Really hope they don't cave in to the complaints and remove areas like this in the sequel.
>it's just a bad addition to the game
It was already in the base game though. But yeah it doesnt offer much really.
Did you accidentally veer into the path of pain?
