Nigger. That's a commitment to an attack animation, like start-up/recovery frame in fightans.
And just like fightans as well, other weapons have slower/faster animations. Hell, you can speed up the sheathing speed with passive skill.

Grab smaller weapon like Sword and Shield, Dual Blades, and Insect Glaive if you can dish out and commit to slow but big dick damage swings properly. The game has a lot of playstyles you can choose from different weapons.

Guys I just beat the base game and now I'm getting mawed by these Iceborn monsters. I'm using the gaurdian set and defender great sword from base game. The monsters are basically 3 shotting me. I have no stamina, sword loses shit ton of sharpness fast and all kind of other bullshit. wtf do I do.

"Replay" through all of the optional HR quests using rank appropriate sets/weapons. You NEED to relearn how everything works if you've been carried by the Defender set.
