Minor settlements in Attila/Warhammer just annoy me

Fug, now I can't decide whether to continue Oda or Otome campaign first.

Long spear stacked with regular yari is borderline unbbeatble in a melee fight. I actually had beaten a game with just ashigaru and while yes its doable its very very boring.

The system brought in for Empire just werks. Bring in the new army system from Rome 2 and you've got a more functional army AI.

Bowmen are decent too. They have a much higher volume of fire than Samurai archers.

Matchlocks are good, but you need to know how to use gun lines.

I have 1200 hours in this game.
Basically, just spam Ashigaru spears as any faction. Depending on your faction, add 1-2 of your specialty units to actually do damage and speed fights. Then have 7-8 samurai bowmen.
Make 3-4 stacks of this and you will never lose on any difficulty because the AI cannot build a stack as good as this. You can auto most battles once you start steam rolling and the rest of the game becomes a map painter.

I recommend a good 400 hours of this while playing OSRS or fapping to loli hentai like I did, it's a great way to pass the time.

How do I use guns?

As Otomo you should go for the Portugese Tercos. They have excellent accuracy and cant hold their own in hand to hand as well as nearly any non hero samurai unit. Their accuracy can be improved if you move the port to a location that gives you the accuracy bonus as well.

The end game meta of warhammer 2 is a stack of 19 units with a hero then just clicking on the enemy army blindly. Dont even get me started on what an army on legendary should look like.

Teracos actually have near identical stats to a katana samurai. So you can actually think of them as a samarai who gets 1 or 2 free shots to soften up the oppostion.

Exactly. They're great units, but they take a while to get.

Mate, Warhammer is spamming 10 archers, 2 artillery and then spears just so your archers can keep shooting. Warhammer is completely broken.

I would consider their main drawback that they need the nanban trade port and you can only have 1. So reinforcing them or making a new army involves shipping them all the way from your starting region. Still a very fun unit. No blunderbuss cav though.

Yeah and it can take a while to get used to the straight firing lines instead of the archers firing arcs if you don't use gun troops often. Mix them with donderbuss cav and you basically won the game, those boys are ridiculous.

Medieval 2 is the best TW

I find FotS so much better than the base game. It has the perfect balance of melee, gunpowder and artillery. It’s the best game in the series after M2.

If your talking about a first run of shongun as Otomo is perhaps the worst choice. They have to deal with christianity which is a pain and they are the only gun faction and guns work very differently to all other styles of play in this game.
