it's because the 3ds runs gba games natively, no emulation involved. why nintendo never made use of this functionality outside the ambassador program is beyond me, but hackers were glad to.

you can get a n2dsxl for $100 off nintendo's refurb site when they're in stock, but they're not right now. official nintendo refurbs are very, very high quality, basically like new.

snes emulation on the n2dsxl is adequate. it runs 95% of games perfectly but special chip games may very occasionally lag. i played super mario rpg and it can chug a tiny bit when there's a LOT going on, but most of the time it runs full speed.

this is a startup payload for luma (hold start on boot and select it) and it basically just lets you dump your roms in a folder and play them that way. uses the same native firmware that injection does.

That's exactly what I did. The 3DS is the ultimate handheld machine, in my eyes.

I love my 2DS XL but man those screens look like hot garbage with the giant pixels that I can clearly see even though I'm shortsighted.

probably. i also use my hacked vita a lot since it can also do ps1/psp natively, but the gba has my favorite game library of all time so the 3ds gets more usage.

Even if I think the Vita library was pretty lackluster, the first model is the most quality looking and feeling portable to come out.

Even if you do get one it might not be good anyway. I got two in a row on Ebay with the screens having a piss yellow tint.

Yes, they cut off a 3ds/dslite to play gameboy on a broken console instead of just getting a fucking gameboy advance or hack a 3ds to play on the dualscreen
