It won some game. But it's not really anything special. It's pretty much a copy as all the ones that came before it.

It changes as much as CoD every release. In fact CoD probably improves more every year than Animal Crossing does every console release.

Nah the new Animal Crossing actually changed a lot this time which is why it's so divisive. There are people who liked the old format better. The new Animal Crossing is designed to last for a very long time. People who binge the games got kind of fucked. They even locked events behind updates so that people can't timetravel.

More get added with every single event. A mario furniture line is also confirmed for early next year and Zelda will surely follow, maybe others. That's the whole point. The game is designed to lock out content over time so that you can come back in a month and still play. Some people don't want to do that, they want to binge the game in 2-3 months and then move on.

This animal crossing is running on all new assets and engine. On top the gameplay changes.

Being able to mold your town into anything you desire is great, but it changed the series from a village life simulator to a dollhouse and dressup sim. I think NH made some much needed changes, but I don't think all of them were for the best.
