What the fuck do they need ARK II for? Are they going to promise better optimization? Better building? Better dinosaur AI? Are they going to offer better balancing? Because this is all stuff that they should be doing with the game they already have.
ARK was a good concept back in 2015. But they are beating this horse to death because they are doing nothing to actually significantly improve the game. They keep putting out these retarded projects like that ARK Minecraft wannabe, that shitty fantasy game that flopped (not actually made by them but they basically gave the ARK assets, or I believe that's how it went), Atlas, mobile shit. Then there's the DLCs, which have their own slew of problems. But on top of that, they have had this obnoxious habit of doing these high budget commercials.
They need to grind their noses into the fucking wheel and fix the game they have now, not pump out a sequel. I am not buying ARK II if they can't demonstrate that they've learned anything from the first ARK game.

Don't play vanilla servers. Always start with stone bases.

In case you missed it the devs are absolute pieces of shit. Endless lies, broken promises, endless paid DLCs, CoC shoved up everyone's ass, Genesis part 1 delayed again and again and again, now part is delayed beyond belief.
Still, I hope Ark 2 gets some better development attention.

What's the point of having Vin Diesel in a shitty early access survival grindathon? That trailer looked so promising if it had been a single player game and my interest died instantly. Also, the animated show's main character is a literal trace job of Avatar Korra.

Is Ark good? I see it every now and then, but I do not know a single person that plays it and I see it mentioned somewhere maybe about 4-5 times a year.

My bet is that vin diesel will be the default guy you play as, replacing bob.

It's extremely fun if you like base building survival crafting games. Takes a decent PC to run well though.

Yeah no shit. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for the longest time, and even ate the shit on the plate with Scorched Earth as EA DLC (which I now recognize was me still desperately hoping the game would eventually become that vague image of greatness I initially held in 2015), but it's been clear time and time again that these people have little actual regard for their own game. The sequel just proves they're out of ideas but they are unwilling to put in any more effort to improve what they have now.

LOL I highly doubt it. Thinking more of that money is going to go into the commercial they just made and the show they commissioned than the actual sequel development.

yeah ill be going up from 1080p with a 3770k and 480 so its all going to be a fuckhuge upgrade regardless as to if i go for it or decide on middle of the road again

Ark was never even going to be a dinosaur game. When the studio first formed they made a T-Rex to test the graphics engine and they showed it to the CEO who instantly decided they were now making a dinosaur game. He said he was obsessed with dinos as a kid and they had to make the game around dinos.

Holy fuck the animation in that video is terrible. I can't imagine how much worse the finished product will be if this is what they put out in the pre-rendered trailer.

I keep coming back to try and play this game. I never have anyone else to play with and everyone has frost breathing dragons I stand no chance against.

Is there a better way to approach the game? Or a game mode where everyone doesnt have crazy game breaking dragons?

Monitors are still stupid expensive. I honestly recommend Acer if you're on a budget. I got my sons 27in 1440p/144hz for $279 and got my 32in 4K/60hz for $429.

Play single player or in a private server with friends only. And sorry, the broken shit is here to stay and will be transferred into any new server thanks to the upload system.

Depends on what you're after. If you don't mind not being able to raid or PvP, then just play a PvE server. There are dungeons and other large areas that you could team up. There are some server clusters that feature some maps as PvP and some as PvE. Setup on a PvE map and go PvP on another map.

It's enjoyable and comfy if you love dinosaurs. But you need a seriously strong PC to run it. Undeniably kind of a tedious game though if you're not a fan of the generic survival formula of grinding resources to build shitty houses and work towards good crafting recipes.

Play it single player. The public servers are just filled with chink and Russian hackers anyway, not fun and not worth fighting against.

I've never used it personally. VSync works fine for me with my 1080ti and fine for my son with his 1070ti. Both our monitors support FreeSync but I have never put it to use.

I had a feeling that was the case. Server transfers are a neat feature but for a newer player it just makes it that much harder to get on your feet, especially by yourself.

Just went to re-download it tonight... 279gb and thats WITHOUT mods installed. What the fuck are the devs smoking?

They only degrade after like a week of absence and most modded or unofficial servers have that setting set to even longer. When I hosted a server cluster decay was set to two week of inactivity.

Structure decay is just a server setting that you can set to false if you want stuff to not disappear at all.
