Seriously vidya AI development seems to be at a standstill, from action games to Total War's shitty cheating AI that doesn't do diplomacy right.

Dragon’s Dogma

because people cant cope with ai outsmarting them. they think its cheating etc

OP right now: THEY HOLD THE ADVANTAGE!

It would be a valid thing for Code Vein if the game didn't turn into a "your AI companion can solo the game" situation.
You can unironically sit in a corner and watch Io cut through the entirety of the game without you having to do anything but maybe dodge to the side, making it so that if you actually want to experience the game yourself you may as well not bring any companion at all.

Forget outsmart, they're not even making good helpful companion AI

Project Wingman

Ratchet: Deadlocked. Merc and Green were absolute bros. The fact that they hovered instead of walking was genius.
>never get in the way or block you
>great covering fire
>can shield you while you're turning a crank

FFXV, Persona 5, honestly most JRPG’s

New Vegas, not only handy for carrying things but they have entertaining and interesting dialogue and provide combat buffs

>Sonic and Tails Mode
>Boss is too hard?
>Plug in controller 2 and kill him with Tails
>Platform you can't reach?
>Plug in controller 2 and have Tails carry you
>Your little brother is whining about his turn to your parents?
>Plug in controller 2 and let him control Tails
>When he's not being controlled by a player, he just repeats your inputs on a delay and doesn't get in your way or harm you
>Doesn't hinder special stages like Sonic 2
Yeah, I'm thinking Tails is based.

Nobody cares about AI anymore unironically. When you have millions of people who still think dark souls is the hardest video game ever, why make better AI? Majority of people that play games don't really play them to truly be challenged, they just want to do things and check off lists and the people that want a real challenge just play MP shit. Why spend power on processing complex AI when shinier graphics will sell more?

AI development is absolutely fucking dead.

Fallout: New Vegas

You're just swapping characters, doesn't count retard

Came to say Dragon's Dogma.

not a real AI companion, she disappears in all battles and then is all scripted bonuses and prompts.

It really felt great seeing your Pawn pick up on the things you did and doing thm by itself. It was also hilarious to get other people's pawns and end up having them yell about picking up loot mid fights. Infinite doesn't have any real companion AI though.

>they think its cheating
to be fair some old AI literally cheated
i remember some street fighter game just straight up giving AI invincibility

Will I like Dragon's Dogma if I like to summon NPC's for Dark Souls bosses?

That seems like a hard criteria to go by. They're not all that similar as far as gameplay goes either.

lego star wars

yeah, in older games it was easier to make the AI overpowered than smart.
