Redpill me on Breath of the Wild

It's amazing enough that Sony fanboys are still mad about it all these years later.

It's a good game for something to relax with. Don't go in with the intention to focus on the game, as you'll soon get bored of it. If you approach it the right way, it's an amazing game with fun exploration, if you go in expecting something it isn't, you'll hate it.
Overall, 8/10. Not a masterpiece, but quite a lot above average.

It's great unless you're a literal NPC with no imagination who needs to be led around the world with their hand held and be given a list of tasks to complete.

The creativity and freedom it allows is so far unmatched in my opinion, but thats all it excels at. This is most of the game though, so most people are going to be enthralled with this part. The rest of it is just ok- older games actually did better in these areas, like dungeons, story, and meaningful side quests with substantial rewards. I dont think it is as impactful to the industry as OoT was, but still impactful.
My biggest complaint, though, is that the world feels empty once you realize that while densely packed with enemy camps, ruins, korok seeds, and shrines... that mostly all you ever find, and many are just copy and paste to each other. Hebra and Faron regions basically have no reason to exist. Fun to explore but leave you feeling empty when done. Hebra doesn't even feel unique. At least Faron is distinct.

Now I know some of you will list your favorite games that you played for 800h
but I can assure you that they're objectively 3/10 at best (and completely irrelevant and forgotten).

A mile wide an an inch deep. Pretty good game overall but the people saying it was the best open-world adventure ever were way overselling it.
