So this is the power of releasing your console in short supply
woah...

i would buy a ps5 if there were any for sale (at retail price i'm not scalping that shit)

Having stock helps.

>250 bucks console sells more than 500 bucks

Woah.... No stock..... = no sale????? How is this be?

Well yeah, no shit, it already came out 3 years ago and has plenty in stock.

You know demand is gonna drop off a cliff after the holidays? By the time sony and microsoft start getting real stock in March-April no one's gonna want it anymore. Nintendo is gonna outsell sony and microsoft every single month of 2021, you can quote me on that.

I will

People who want switches will eventually buy one in the years it has been out so it will taper off. PS5 and Series consoles can't be obtained anywhere right now and it might be a problem going up to next holiday season.

Biggest launch in US history tho

I just want a 3070 without scalperfags.

The Nintendo label is a fashion statement at this point. Just like Apple, people are not buying it to show that they're into the technology itself but more of what the brand itself means in the eyes of the public;

a statement.

The fact that its outselling both consoles in the likes of North America says enough.

Already seeing cope ITT

No fucking way

MUH STOCK

There probably wont be enough stock until summer which will really fuck them both up

In jp sales my stockrino, in mutt land my stockrino as excuse. Where do they have stock? They have no games anyway.

Only other times this has happened is PS2 outselling Xbox/Gamecube, and Wii U getting outsold.
It's over. Nintendo has won.

It was literally out of stock.
Nothing more to say.

Pack it up snoy fans

>People who want switches will eventually buy one in the years it has been out so it will taper off.
Nintendo still hasn't done a price drop or a pro version. There's plenty more sales they can squeeze out of this baby. Switch is also a device you may want more than one of per household, so people who already own one may buy them for kids or spouses.

Thing was both Microsoft and Sony claimed thos was their largest launch ever, with some sources saying Microsoft sold 2 million consoles in 3 days.

I think that statement applies much more to people rushing to buy the new consoles that have no particular selling point beyond being new hardware than it does to Switch.

>Biggest launch in US history tho
This doesn't mean anything lol. Switch launched in March, of course it had worse initial sales. Also, Nintendo didn't have two of the biggest software titles of the year at launch (mario kart and 3d mario). Playstation has jack shit coming in 2021.

They'll sell much more next year, because currently, why bother getting a new console with no new games when your current console has the same games? People are waiting for lower prices and the end of coronavirus.

Screenshotting for the lulz

you can't even buy a ps5 or xsx

People don't realize how deep in shit sony and microsoft are. This was Nintendo's off year. This was the year they could take all the attention and get all those sales and momentum. Next year is supposed to be the biggest year for switch software yet, and they'll probably steal the show at E3 with BotW 2.

That is true, but you have to consider the push manchildren and femoids have when it comes to talking about Nintendo games like New Horizons and SWSH on social media. You could be a literal who with annoying opinions and poor talent but as long as you spout how much you are obsessed with Nintendo games, you can wrile up quite a following.
I used to do it myself and after a while, you'd begin to wonder if any of the Nintendo audiences have played any other game. Even shittalking about Nintendo with them is considered sacrilege or heresy.

Nah the only fashion statement is the Playstation, where the best sellers are multi-platform games. At least people buy the Nintendo systems for things you can't get anywhere else.

Most people buy Playstations to play multiplayer games with their friends.

BOTW 2 is going to be their trump card, I think it'll push the system to 80 million units sold in 2021

>By the time sony and microsoft start getting real stock in March-April no one's gonna want it anymore
I fucking hope so. I plan on buying one around that time then.

That's pretty impressive in itself considering during the Wii U and late Wii era everyone was ready to write off Nintendo as an old washed up brand with no appeal in the modern market.
It's impressive how quickly the narrative shifts from "Nintendo is doomed" to "Nintendo is too big to fail".

Pokemon DiaPer remakes are gonna be huge too. And I feel like it may be time for another Mario Party.

Shit if that happens, super mario party 2, nintnedo will just curb stomp em

I think they're different kind of fashion statements, one that is kind of split down the midddle;

One half of the Playstation fans were probably the Sega types that saw the shit Nintendo has pulled over the years and find it sickening how they seem to get away with a lot of controversy. Most like the console because they see the potential in its technology and storytelling, and what new IP's can be made with it while also making some very visually impressive games. Kind of a re-inveneting the wheel sort of console.
Other half of Playstation fans is the normiefags that think TLOU is the best shit and use it to show off to their loser friends, using it as a status symbol of some kind and to make themselves look "cool" or "hip", either of which is kind of cancerous today.

On the Nintendo front, you have some similar;
One half really loves the genius design philosophy the company is capable of expressing and all the dormant IP's just waiting to be tapped into. These would usually be the Metroid, FZero, Kid Icarus and PunchOut fans, and maybe the kind of fans that dont like the current direction Pokemon has taken. Not too fond of Playstation but also open to seeing new things within the company. The kind of group that wouldn't hesitate to call out on the shit the company would do; AM2R or MeleeFags, usually fit this category. Most would say the company died with Iwata.

The other half...well, its the half that consider Nintendo their best of friends. African Buns type and the kind that are %100 convinced BotW is the best Zelda game ever made. Far too obsessed with gameplay above everything else and don't see anything wrong with the capitalist+communist doctrine Nintendo operates on. Overtly attached to the glory days of Nintendo and probably bought into the PokemonGO hype back in the mid 2010s. This is probably the clique of the gaming community that genuine members of the industry find intolerate, as I have noticed.

Interesting dynamics, overall.
