obligatory fear 1
After playing bioshock and headspace, fear 1 felt very disappointing. Too bored to finish it
Am I misremembering Bioshock? I don't recall the gunplay in that game being very good.
solid 7/10, the Art Bell radio parts were cool too.
It was great with the addition of crazy powers with your right hand. Guns were unique too. In 2 you get a fucking drill
>fear is dissapointing compared to bioshock
Is this fucking bait? This has to be bait. FEAR is easily one of the best FPS games ever made. Very few games over the past 15 years even come close.
I really tried to give it a shot. Zig Forums always brings it up and I finally wanted to try it. But I was just too bored.
I went from a ruined underwater kingdom, to a playable Event Horizon, to a lonely brown n' bloom FPS with spoopy moments every 15-30 minutes. Sorry man.
Riddick was underrated and I liked that every time you reloaded your gun, it would discard the current clip, and the remaining rounds would not get carried over. Rainbow Six also did this.
I had this on the original Xbox and I keep meaning to pick it up on PC during a sale and never do.
I remember during the escape from the first prison when you're under the floor and those creepy bastards come crawling at you.
Just make sure you play the Developer's Cut (webm related) and not the "remake" included in Dark Athena. It's worse in almost every single way.
F.E.A.R., Chronicles of Riddick, TRON 2.0, Far Cry 2, RTCW, TimeShift, Firestarter(From creators of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.), Hard Reset, Black Hawk Down.
It actually isn't coming up in any searches on various stores so I might have to go another way. How did they mess up the Dark Athena version?
die please thanks
Anyone played Project Warlock?
It doesn't even resemble the same game anymore, especially if you're used to the OG Xbox version.
The 2004 Developer's Cut is the OG Xbox version just with higher-res textures, improved models, shaders, bump/normal maps, as well as extra content including a new level and collectibles/unlockables.
There are also music changes as well as gameplay changes (a certain terrifying section is made easier) that you may or may not notice.
Generally it's not. I'd say the shotgun was probably the only weapon which felt good to use.
Prey's weapons and enemies are awful, though.
>shotgun that just limply sneezes actual snot
>hunter rifle chips enemies
>crawler cannon gets noammo
Only the leech gun once you get the Fuck You Godbeam energy sources feels like it does any real damage.
Plus Tommy just spends the game being a whiny bitch. Gameplay in general is pretty bog standard console shooter-y.
It's been a while since I played Prey but I recall the pistol being the best weapon
I disagree, shotgun falls off hard during midgame. Not as hard and as badly as the machine gun, but not far behind.
The crossbow you get at the 75% mark is where the game actually stopped feeling awful for me. That motherfucker one-shots everything on Hard and pins fuckers to walls with headshots like it's going out of style.
But then you get to the "be a big daddy" escort sequences and the game eats shit regardless.
>Original Prey
>Pistol
No.
Must've been a while, because there's no pistol in Prey.
There's a bow. I don't remember if the bow was good. Maybe it's good.
I thought it was fun, some levels felt pretty samey and too forgettable and overall the environments was hit or miss, but the weapons and enemies were fun. Also it DID have a couple memorable, unique levels.
You can only use the bow in spirit form. It does reasonable damage up until endgame
>Pistol
Are you talking about Prey(2017)???
*overhead shot a of a ceiling fan intensifies*
Yeah, my bad
What makes shooting feel good?
Turok 2 remaster
Sound and impact
Well you're still wrong, Prey 2017's pistol is underpowered as fuck and you need the golden variant for it to start feeling useful. The default pistol does 15 damage max in a game where endgame enemies have upwards of 500 health
Action and reaction. SFX, impact, enemy animation or physics, the closer it is to simulating a firearm and less an abstract shooty bang-bang, usually the better.
>clip
magazine
Pic is a clip
Dusk
It's shit.
Good opening. Some really fun setpieces. Has a bunch of pretty lame sections in the middle.
