Kinda like this but It's a boss rush action game where you fight the canon tv angels and some extra ones in the map of Tokyo-3.
>inbetween angel fights you have persona esque VN sections where you manage Shinji's relationships with the other characters from the show like Toji, Asuka, Rei, Misato, etc
>Instead of stats like strength, int, dex,etc Shinji has stats for his mental health and relationships with the other characters.
Aside from beating the angels your goal would be to keep Shinji's mental stable because this would directly effect his performance in the Eva.
The healthier his mental state is the faster the eva will react to your inputs and you'll have better movesets, access to more abilities,etc.
If Shinji's mental health is poor the eva will move more sluggishly and there's a risk of it going berserk which would defeat the angel, but would do damage to tokyo-3 in the process making the next battle much harder.
