This. Their AI has rudimentary pathfinding at most, with absolutely no dynamics. Enemies walk towards you. Allies stand still or walk in circles until you talk to them. That's about it. There are no factions, no AI fighting other AI, no independence from the protagonist. It's the gaming equivalent of a band who exclusive writes songs in a 4/4 time signatures, 120 bpm and the key of C major

i know this is hard to understand, but having the Zelda IP doesn't mean the game was released by Nintendo. Tecmo Koei is responsible for that mess, and it's pretty par for the course for one of their releases.
