No matter how well you planned, how well you prepared, what characters you sided with or what ulterior motives you had. He dies regardless.
So much for "RPG Elements" that railroad you into a fixed story. Even Fallout New Vegas's choices are more nuanced. This is some Telltale-games-tier of storytellign and you cannot possibly defend it.

The game was advertised with having a non-linear story where your choices and your LARPing actually mattered. Turns out they don't.

Even more ridiculous is that afterwards you’ll get a call from his mom and all his friends and everone acts like they know you and you have a history together when all you have done so far was 3 prologue missions and some random encounterz because Watson was under lockdown.
It feels like CDRed cut 10hours eorth of prologue missions and encounters from the game and condensed it into a tiny 30seconds montage after you finished your 5minutes lifepath intro.

But WHY did they develop this game as an RPG for almost a decade, only to rollback and claim that it's an "open-world, action-adventure story".

For me it was around the time I spoke to the sheriff as a nomad and the game showed me the railroad I was stuck on by having all of my dialogue choices lead to him giving me same shit. Things only got worse from there, though I think the real crowning glory is the asshole that keeps sending me his spiel on why capitalism is bad.

Either I fucked up or I ran into that bug where shit plays out the same regardless of what you do. With the literal trash fire that is this game it's a 50/50 shot.

It's a shame about the hilarious level of bugs and fucking awful RPG elements (stealth killing with pistols being useless because you essentially just have to cross your fingers and hope the first shot is the kill thanks to random health pool and weapon damage) because I find the stories and missions really compelling.
I actually got super pissed when in Pacifica the fucking Voodoos tried to use you as a sacrifice TWICE. Just the thought of how many times they killed random outsiders who thought they were doing normal business for the sin of not being a Voodoo Boy made me mad. Then, after you force them to try to hold up their end, they chuck you past the Blackwall. Fucking cunts. Only reason I didn't slaughter them was because I don't want to lock myself out of any future content.

For me, It was when I tried out all 3 starting stories and saw that they ALL go through the exact same intro, no matter what, outside of the first literal 5 minutes.

As soon as I came out of the black wall and finished I was pissed and pulled out my mantis blades, couldn't hurt any of them.

That's when I fully realized I wasn't playing a real open world RPG and learned this wasn't one, it was kinda just pretending to be one.

After that I was fine with playing first person future gta with stats and perks.

the montage in the intro should've been Act 1, with the heist shit being Act 2. Jackie's death would've been much more impactful if we actually to bond with him beyond 3 missions.

When you get out of the sim and Brigitte confronts you, you can choose to get your revenge and all the VDBs go hostile. Even has a Placide minibusses.
Is it possible this option isn't there if you side with the Netwatch guy? Could also be a bug, when I did the infiltration mission with Takemura the game just didn't make any of the guards hostile in the warehouse, all green.
