Because at least Royal would be somewhat different then and show they're willing to put in effort when asking for full price for a glorified DLC. But drones still buy it so whatever, it just enables shitty corporate practices.

I'm playing through Royal right now and have come to the conclusion that writing in all Persona games is god-awful. 99% of all the dialogue is meaningless filler that only exists to waste your time, and the meat of the story is childish chuuni nonsense.

A good example is the ending of vanilla P5. Do you remember when it started raining blood, reality and the metaverse converged, and then the MC got a giant mech? Because I certainly didn't until I recently replayed it. All that shit came out of nowhere and was not earned. It was pretty visuals that wanted to be as impactful as Evangelion, but the writers had no idea how to make something deep. Every single villain is a 1-dimenasional cartoon character, just to make sure you don't use your brain too much.

Royal's villain isn't, but that's because he belongs in a completely different game. He's a ludicrous villain sue and the new writer's pet character. It's also bad, but for completely different reasons.

I would have liked P5 more if Royal was on PC.

I actually thought the giant mech was fine, though yeah every other aspect of the ending was garbage. P3 and P4 worked because of the focus on character writing meant you cared about what those knuckleheadw did with their lives and the world, but P5 neglects its characterization for a focus on plot while having a plot that is fucking terrible.

It most certainly did not come out of nowhere it was all built up the entire game, you sound really, really stupid and you probably just seethe that the game is popular.

That's what some bad people are like in real life. Kamoshida for example is based off an actual incident that happened with a Japanese athlete. It's realistic.

The "entire game" was about mind controlling specific evil people to make the protagonists' lives better. All the god shit is tacked onto the end, just like it was in 4. If you think it was a genuinely good story then you have brain damage, or are 13 years old (the target audience).

If you want to get 9 like in vanilla you have to scratch the bottom of the barrel by adding Mishima, Yoshida, Sojiro, or side characters like the male teachers.

It wouldn't have worked with the way the plot and scenario is laid out. However thematically a smug, daredevil female protagonist would've been more cool.

There is one more good dungeon late in the game, and if you're playing Royal apparently the extended ending is good.

If you're playing Royal, it'll get better a long time from now. If you aren't, no, it won't. Well at least the continuous downward spiral might be interesting, since you're aware in advance.
