They are the pioneers of open world gaming. They are the masters of the craft, and inferior developers trying to ape them fall ob their face.
I never used to give a shit about Rockstar, but I recently realized they are the only AAA company not to disappoint me even once. In fact its the opposite. I'm always surprised at how good of a game they made whenever they release one.

while I haven't loved every game they make they are the only dev that makes AAA games that aren't complete dogshit and I admire that. RDR2 has some huge problems but they absolutely nailed the aesthetic, music, and even some of the story beats were good.

RDR2's map is fucking huge and I think it's one of the more impressive open worlds for detail, makes me wonder what GTA VI will be like.
