THEY CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT

By being good and fun, things most modern games abandon in favor of retardedly complicated "stories" and weird political messages.

Charming characters that can draw in new players by themselves

by becoming a shell of its former self, even if its still a good game today.

Because there's nothing like it

because they designed it as a singleplayer multiplayer game first instead of a multiplayer game that needs cooperation

>le old tf2 was better meme
Not only would it be dead, it would be less fun

The medic and engie exist for the sole purpose of cooperation though.

I fucking hate this guy and his bad takes, his fallacious love for competitive tf2 (aka the thing that's harmed tf2 the most) is the worst

Can you really call a corpse propped up in the corner by the furry community living?

It's fundamentally the greatest online FPS ever created, with RTCW: ET being a not so distant 2nd. The thing that really stands out about TF2, however, is the effort put into making the characters likeable and interesting. It's a nearly perfect game, and it's criminal that Valve has let it go to the state it's in now.

TF Classics is still alive and well.

just treat other players as bots

I don't think you know what the word outlives means. Because the game is dead.asf outside of your chud inner circles of 4.

don't reply to that faggot

beats being shitted on and laughed at like overwatch

It hasn’t outlived a much better Valve game: Dota 2!

The characters, setting and atmosphere are timeless and unique. Every other FPS game that goes for cartoony aesthetic is super bland - it has all kinds of diverse characters and environments, but no identity. TF2 just oozes personality because it does its own thing instead of copying MOBA art direction

Mad, dead 404 thread incoming.

Medigun is actually specifically designed to work on the assumption that no one in your team is going to cooperate with you when you try to heal them.
>doesn't require your teammates to do anything but be within your heal range for you to start healing them
>you're even given a higher than normal move speed so there's only one class in the game you're going to have trouble getting in range to heal
>doesn't even need you to have to try and hit them as the jump around as the thing auto aims

Engie is similar, generally all you need to do is place your building so that teammates will see them so they make use of them. Worst thing you'll deal with is twats taking metal from you.

>Valve leaves it to die a slow, painful death
>still within Steam's top 10 played games 99% of the time, often the top 5
How does it do it? Bots fucking everywhere, terrible performance, bugs, no new content (sans a few community maps and one or two crates a year), yet it endures

>outside of your chud inner circles of 4.
I don't think you know what the word dead means.

pretty sad that Zig Forums has now shifted their opinion that tf2 wasn’t ruined by the crates or hats but instead the players who love the game the most.

Engie usually feels like a solo character to me, sure he can help hold a chokepoint, but on intel maps and stuff it's usually just you and your nest tucked away far from your teammates.
Medic though, totally, he can handle himself but solo/battle medic is a dumb meme.

>now
Even back when cosmetics were barely a thing in the game yet people had resentment to compfaggotry.

Extremely fun combat, easy to get into, rewarding for every hit, every little hint of progression, really good to play with friends.

Varied classes, so a thing for every playstyles.

Very high skill celling on classes like Solly, Demo, Scout, and (of course) Sniper/Spy.

And let's not forget memorable characters that spawned more fanart and fan content than any game in history, which helped a lot to make it known to everyone.

it has soul

By going with a cartoony art-style instead of the original intent of "realistic"

If they really loved the game they would know that competitive as a whole is a fruitless endeavor, TF2 is intentionally not designed for that kind of faggotry

It's crazy how inherently different casual (the "normal" TF2 experience) and comp is.
24 (even 32 on some servers) players vs 12.
All 9 classes (sometimes even 4 spies shitfests) vs 2 soldiers 1 scout 1 medic 1 demo (+ 1 wildcard).
Random crits vs no random crits.
