Both her dad and her brother were awful. She truly had some of the worst characters in the game in her route, which definitely didn't help.

Since no one is actually going to play the real version, I'll tell you how her story actually goes.

Shizune meets Misha.
Misha gets wet for Shizune.
Shizune meets Hisao.
Shizune gets wet for Hisao.
Misha has inner turmoil and tries to be supportive of Shizune+Hisao.
Misha self-destructs.
Misha tries to fuck Hisao.
Misha throws herself in front of a car.
Misha dies.
Shizune and Hisao cope.
Shizune finds Misha's diaries.
Misha writes that Shizune's deafness is a communication barrier.
Misha writes she can't express herself to Shizune.
Misha says she can't handle it all and wants to join the 41%.
Shizune blames herself and her disability for Misha's suicide.
Shizune breaks.
Hisao slowly helps Shizune recover.
Very slowly. Lots of plot. And "plot".
Hisao and Shizune live happily ever after.
There are dozens of scenes, like Misha's inner thoughts after the 'accident' while she was in the hospital and stuff that just tear you apart. Shizune's route was, in all honesty, the BEST route in the game before they neutered it because it wasn't normie-friendly. And again, you can play the original route in the pre-alpha repair. Do it, faggot.

I like the emotional arc but it sounds too needlessly edgy. Could have done that without the soap opera bullshit.

Cliff notes always sound edgy because it removes the emotional component. You aren't there experiencing the emotional sway and getting the time to digest the events as they unfold. It was not remotely edgy. It was very well written and tastefully done.
