Yes, but for reasons that aren't the obvious autistic gamer shit. The console factor is one thing, but the biggest problem is that the game doesn't have the funding or the team size to build a modern STALKER game, even one faithful to the series. You could literally just remake STALKER top to bottom as it was with modern production values and you'd still need a larger team and budget than the original.

Even in the best case scenario where STALKER 2 is actually totally faithful to the series and a legitimate sequel, not consolised or streamlined in a way that is a detriment to the design, the production requirements will be enormous for a game of its scope and depth. And here's the kicker; the team isn't big enough to do this, and there's no evidence they have the money to pull it off either. They're hyping off the back of a logo and crude engine teaser and that's it. Logistically the groundwork to make an actual STALKER 2 reality isn't there.

And that's going to bite them for the entire production, because they WILL try to reach STALKER status, while ALSO trying to consolise it. They WILL try to make it something that can compete in the AAA console space, because that's what makes shareholders happy, and they WILL market it is as a big fancy AAA game with all the trimmings. And they WILL talk the same shit over and over to PC gamers that it's a true sequel.

What we'll get is an undercooked mess of a game that has only half (if we're lucky) the depth and scope of the original STALKER, isn't accessibility or polished enough to appeal to the mass market console crowd, runs like shit, looks like shit, is a mess, and ultimately disappointing all possible audiences and kill the franchise for good.
