Nintendo has been so dependent on Smash announcements to drum up hype for the Switch that it's hard to imagine them not extending the DLC cycle for the Switch's whole life.
But they really should move on, it's not healthy in the long term to focus on Smash at the cost of everything else. It's no wonder they think the Direct model is no longer effective, it got to the point people only watched them for Smash and every other announcement got ignored.

Those four extra slots are all going to be DLC fighters, but they're going to be sold individually and not with a Pass.

There's room for 4 more stages after this pass is done so maybe yeah. Unless we get more stages like Small Battlefield or an uneven stage selection screen, I'd say it's likely.

If the choices are to move on to Smash6 or make more DLC fighters I don't see why they shouldn't just keep adding as many as they can. Ultimate isn't dipping in popularity anytime soon.
