I'm with you, it's buggy for sure but overall I haven't stayed up all night engrossed in a videogame in forever. I usually don't pay attention to stories in games either because they don't grab me properly or it's shit but this one has pulled me in.
Although I do feel like act 2 is a little hollow... I think i'm just missing jackie bros...

There was a purpose for Duncan's death. It was to highlight the failure of Grey Wardens. The guy was also initially supposed to return but it was cut. You can see that by how his death is off camera and Riordan (most boring character in the game) takes his place.

Jackie was written to be killed off and it's done in such a shitty and anticlimactic way, only rivalled by your wife's death in Fallout 4.

You're not alone, the bugs are annoying but it's honestly no less janky than a lot of other greater slavshit games like KCD and STALKER. I mean shit, Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines is one of the least functional games in it's base state ever and is a beloved classic among vidya rpg players

Not really though , he witness the death of tht Emperor of the Arasaka corporation after constantly talking up how he "made it to the big leagues" and started becoming arrogant almost immediately. Neither V or Jackie survived it, the chip is the only thing that kept V alive. The entire point of V and Jackie dying was to showcase just how dysfunctional, selfish, and violent the "Big Leagues" (upper class oligarch types) are. It's blows the entire concept of corpos living some kind of easy life in Night City apart completely. If anything the streetkids probably have a simpler life.

The entire world is a dystopia and there is no escaping it no matter how far you try to run, so Jackie and V died trying.

Story and aesthetics are its only saving grace, even without bugs its gameplay and inventory are bottom of the barrel tier.

It was pretty fucking obvious from the trailers that he was going to die. Anybody that was surprised clearly didn't watch the trailers or assumed it was all concept.
