save states are fine, it depends on the application. Emulator functions can greatly improve a game, you are delusional if you think design flaws are an important part of an "authentic" experience. Fast forward in particular massively improves the pacing of many games. I can't imagine playing a final fantasy, fire emblem, pokemon, yugioh etc etc without fast forward. The player just needs to use their intelligence for when a savestate doesn't ruin the experience.

Save states are cheat codes, nigger.

4K CRT filter on an OLED screen is better than actual CRT because you don't get all the flaws of CRT like geometric distortions, cable noise and such.
I refuse to go back to actual consoles, I've sold them all and my 42" trinitron because emulation is now better.

I use savestates for restarts instead of an in-game save feature since it's way faster than normally resetting

I have a couple of questions about this
On skyrim, I usually set my movespeed to 125, which is a 25% increase. I have to cheat to do it since there's no way to do it in game
Also, where do exploitable things lie on this scale? Using skyrim again, If I make armour that means I can cast Destruction spells for free, is that cheating if I can do it naturally?
Is a potion loop cheating in morrowind? I would say a lot of people do it

I like the Switch port of FF7 not because of the cheat where if you press the right thumbstick you get an infinite limit break and a refill on mana and HP. But because of the Cheat on the Left thumbstick to speed the game up, makes grinding so much easier if I can just go through 8 battles in 2 minutes.
