Have a little trouble with the artistic direction. They overdo it on tattoos and colored hair. Looks like a cyberpunk caricature. Deckard in Blade Runner just has a trenchcoat, a huge gun, a flying car, and a dark look and it's way more cyberpunk. Same for Ghost In The Shell, it's cyberpunk because you feel it more than you see it. Motoko Kusanagi, if you don't see her "holes" in the back of her neck, it could be a normal human. That's why it is classy and creepy at the same time.
Look at this picture, it looks like a MTV music awards poster. Not a dystopian cyberpunk future.
It's based off a tabletop rpg which is an amalgamation of every over the top cyberpunk trope in existence. It's not meant to be subtle.
Kevin Hill
It's very cheap, soulless and whorish, it's distopian alright.
Charles Mitchell
Makoto spends half the series in a skintight whoresuit with purple hair and everyone besides deckard dresses like a clown. That said if you want to dress like makoto or deckard you still can
Jose Taylor
>a game filled with so much tranny faggotry that even the cars need to be dilated
>user can’t even look at a car without thinking of a tranny Embarrassing
William Roberts
You're just a complete pleb and moat importany a brainlet. The quality, art, clothing, realism and style of the game is worlds beyond the closest game after it
Ian Brown
Unironically, the game looks fucking amazing, handling is a different story. You are simply a retard who has never seen the material it's based on. Cyberpunk has not been Bladerunner for a very long time, check out art from Shadowrun and Cyberpunk 2020 to see what I mean. In fact, Projekt Red actually toned down the overall asthetic of the game, the Animal gang where supposed to all be crazy, drugged up furry body modders, with venom injectors for teeth and shit, not Chads in gym shorts. The Matrix VR segment was extremely cool, and pretty much exactly as the RPG describes it.
My only real complaint with the aesthetic is that the nights should be longer, why include random glowing lenses everywhere if you can't show it off most of the time?
This. It's astounding how many autists hyper fixate on Blade Runner being "de-facto" Cyberpunk when there's been other interpretations of the genre for decades now. Best way to put it is Blade Runner is Cyberpunk but not all Cyberpunk is Blade Runner.
Aiden Jackson
>Opinion on the art direction of this game Far too fucking pastel
Colton Gomez
I fucking hate it. For me the true cyberpunk aesthetic is Tsutomu Nihei
I don't know how involved deathburger was in the artistic decisions, but the game does remind me of his art a lot. A cyberpunk attempt to imitate moebius
2020's cover is just as tacky, its just from the 80s so you think its retro.
Kevin Butler
Blade Runner might not be the pattern for a Cyberpunk universe, but it's one of the most convincing. Cyberpunk 2077 is too coloroful and emphasises style and fashion way too much. Basically it's trying to look cool, young and appealing. The opposite of a cyberpunk dystopia.
Henry Torres
Zeitgeist is only expressed through a certain few elements, not literally everything needs to be painted in the aesthetic in order for it to work, and in fact doing that makes it feel like a garish caricature that doesn't provide space for juxtaposition and contrast that would make the differences actually feel real and relatable
Not OP, but this game is a massive disappointment. I never was a huge fan of the "cyberpunk" aesthetic so that worried me, but holy fuck they fucked up. Hard to believe a studio that produced Witcher 3 could produce such tripe. Then again after what I will politely call 'staffing changes' over they past few years at CDPR, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
Gavin Smith
??? Blame! isn't cyberpunk retard.
Easton Peterson
Maybe this is a little bit more realism/lore based by aesthetic as well, but I don’t like just how many people in the game have visible cybernetic modifications. The whole chromed up body with rainbow hair and edgy tattoos gets to be tiring.
Jonathan King
this guy gets it. nerds who don't leave the house have no idea what street realism is supposed to look like. as someone whose walked through times square on the weekend the game captures the feel and ambience of huge cities perfectly.
dude I bet you play anime games and still think jrpgs are profound explorations of the human condition. you don't know what tripe is
David King
another faggot whose never left the house and never walked down the streets of a city like new york. durr why is the only bastion of order on the american west coast attracting cybernetic junkies like flies???
Dominic Myers
You are absolutely stupid. Night City doesn't exist, and the game is supposed to take place in 2077. It's not meant to be 2020 Times Square. THAT is the point, it doesn't look cyberpunk if it looks like walking through an Apple Store.
Nolan Powell
>They overdo it on tattoos and colored hair. That's literally what the punk in cyberpunk is for, stupid.
Dominic Collins
No. Matrix was cyberpunk and had none of that.
Hunter Lee
>Transformers is good movies because you can see AAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Brody Reyes
insufferable autist. it is REMINISCENT of these huge modern cities, like cyberpunk cities in general are reminiscent of hong kong. retard
Luke White
>dude I bet you play anime games and still think jrpgs are profound explorations of the human condition. While I know this is an unpopular statement here, I fucking hate anime with the burning passion of a thousand suns.
Kevin King
Matrix was dystopic sci fi, stupid. Same as Blade Runner.
Brayden Sullivan
good, because people still here in reality 1.0 instead of uguu gaga kawaii senpai land can see how naturalistic the npcs and city design is in this game
Josiah Jackson
Who the fuck cares nigga, stop making threads about this shit
