Now that the dust has settled, and we've seen our first "next" gen "open world game", what went so right?

>true sandbox approach to exploration
>lack of icons in the map
>"chemistry" engine
>interesting and varied world
>absolutely great sound design

An open world that's actually designed instead of a follow the marker simulator. Genshin Impact also does well in this regard although it's lacking the creativity of BoTW but makes up for it with cute anime waifus.
Western devs need to go back to hub-worlds like Deus Ex and Prey because they clearly cannot handle making compelling open worlds. Hopefully BoTW knocked some sense into Todd and Starfield/ES6 will be more like BoTW in this regard.

First open world game that actually had stuff to do in the world map.

It's a solid 6/10.

Pretty much all of this. The world design in this game is top tier and unmatched by any vidya developer out there.
Wrong.

the sandbox nature of it

Cringe.

>interesting and varied world
This is a joke right?

what else do you do in the game other than run around and fuck around?

Nintendo knows its limitations and works well what it can do thats why they are successful. PCDR tried to do to much making a GTA open world game with RPG mechanics all for the sake of impressing journalist hacks

They gave the player their own choices about how to play.

>>interesting and varied world
its the most varied open world I played it has snow mountain area, lake area, lava hotspring area. Cyberpunk was one big fucking desert same with GTA 5

>Western devs need to go back to hub-worlds like Deus Ex and Prey because they clearly cannot handle making compelling open worlds
Sadly they wont its not flashy enough or cutting edge enough, game reviews want overrated tech demos not video games

BOTW is my first LoZ game
I expected Link's gf to be Zelda not a fucking fish, lol

And desert and jungle. Even the mostly grassland regions feel pretty different from each other.

GTA5 also had mountains with forests, and had oceans and lakes.

You didnt get the memo? There is nothing anyone can say to hurt BoTWs feelings. It is literally the best open world adventure game that exists.

one of the many 10/10 games. would watch again

This game costs 34 dollars on the Argentine eShop. Is it worth it?

Absolutely. It's the best game on switch

The exploration.

Worth double that.

The only score that matters is Famitsu.

it was ok, I just don't get the hype
I mean it's like a solid 7-8/10 I just don't see why people say it's perfect

it's not it's a 7/10, good fucking around but it could have so much more in it, kind of like GTA

Soon as this semester is over I'm thinking of replaying it over winter break. Wanted to start Cyberpunk on PC but I'm just gonna wait for some more updates.

No says it's perfect. Not on Zig Forums at least. However I have seen a lot o people seething over others calling is oerfect which is pretty autistic. But BoTW is the best openworld game that exists today and that is afact.

is that some kinda mod?

>Soon as this semester is over I'm thinking of replaying it over winter break.
I played it on the piece of shit WiiU and now own the switch version is it a much better experience

graphical tweaks, reshade shaders and modified linkle

cool, i didn't know the game had much of a modding scene other than memes and that one playable zelda

t. hasn't watched e-celebs do more than the great plateau

>attention to detail
>using an artstyle that wont age as badly as muh hyperrealism
>fun physics
>interactions with the overworld
>little to no invisible walls/borders
>non-linear story
>forced to do more than just watching the minimap going from one glowy point to the next

linke and zelda are pretty much the only real character mods and with reshade you can add effects like screenspace ray traced ambient occlusion and illumination
then in cemu you can tweak a bunch of graphics settings
