Holy fucking shit

It's in development hell right isn't it?

>March 2021:
>@retrostudios: We are looking for a writer
>September 2021:
>@retrostudios: We are looking for a Director

I don't understand, did literally everyone that worked on the Prime series leave Retro? Why the hiring spree?

Metroid Prime 3 was 2007, it's not the same people anymore

yes, a lot left so barely any of the original team are working on it. I mean, didn't that game ReCore say "from the people who made Metroid Prime"

>Boss/ AI designer
Huh...?

Is this mean the game haven't even passed production stage?

>yes, a lot left so barely any of the original team are working on it.
Is it because they rarely actually get a project off the ground?

they're probably still prototyping/building the codebase for the game. It's not happening anytime soon

it'll probably be a launch title for whatever console nintendo does after the switch. we're at least 4-5 years out from seeing this game, if we ever do at all.

they literally restarted development twice. They have no groundwork at all

>we are looking

elaborate

what was cancelled between 2014 and 2019 ?

>AI designer
Why? Just make them follow paths.

Its so fucking funny that Nintendo turned down owning Rare when they were bleeding talent but Retro bleeds talent after every damn game. They must be one of the worst 1st party studios the company own right now both output and talent wise.

Next Level Games should just make sequels to DK/Metroid at this point.

>bro just, use algorithms and shit

2023 or 2024 which means Metroid Prime Trilogy for Switch is 2022 or 2023.

They should just cancel it, we don't need anymore Metroid Prime games.

They restarted the whole project from scratch.
Not joking.

I still want to see whatever absolute abortion Bamco Singapore created to make even Nintendo want to switch back to letting le gaijins to developing their game. Surely it must have been on a new level of awful

I'm still hanging on for a late 2022 release.

Don't worry, Metroid 5 by based Sakamoto and Mercury Steam will come out next year.

Why are you acting like boss design is something done at the beginning of development? It's not.

How have people meme'd themselves into thinking Metroid 5 is happening? Is it because some resetera tranny leaker said so?

Retro has a similar skill that Valve has where there talent comes from finding other people with talent and basically have them work for them.

Differences is Valve embraced this mindset and culled around 200 employee's around the mid-2000's and now divides the work with a mix of some permanent employee's and contractors while Retro still has this weird cycle of culling and hiring.

This, can't wait, it's probably coming in August or September with an E3 2021 reveal.

Unironically that's pretty much what "AI" means in video game contexts. An AI designer is someone who can put up with the menial task of creating a state machine model that lets the enemies switch from stalking, hiding, attacking, retreating, etc. following path nodes and such in an entertaining way. Most "AI" is stretching the term to breaking point, but in video games there is literally 0 intelligence, artificial or otherwise by design.

I would not say Retro is the worst studio in Nintendo, their most recent game Tropical Freeze is pretty good, now compare that to the shovelware Mario Party or the Golden Sun devs consistently shit out.

Though i agree Nintendo should give NLG more projects and possibly outright buy them

You're right but after Strikers Nintendo will never trust them without a leash

*mid 2010's not 2000's. That was a typo.

Cope, mother fucker, every game that vergeben leaked last year has become a reality, only Warioware and Metroid 5 are left.

>remember me?
I like Prime 1; 2 was OK; 3 seemed cringe.
Will 4 be any good?

An entire new DK game is completed and on the backburner for release.

I'm applying, boys

this game isn't coming out until next gen

Tropical Freeze was fantastic, if it's the same people making Prime 4 I'm sleeping well until it releases.

>they haven’t even started making bosses and working on combat AI yet

See you in 2022, if ever, Metroid Prime 4...

This has been happening for a while though. i live in Texas and got to see them on job application sites looking for stuff. about a year ago they were looking for concept artists.

this video is 2 years old
their pipeline must be a fucking mess

This, didn't Californians all moved to Texas, I'm worried about Prime 4.

holy fucking rekt

This was nearly TWO years ago though. Assuming this isn't BotW tier they should be over halfway through development by now.

Source on this?

MercurySteam hasn't released anything since Samus Returns.

>They must be one of the worst 1st party studios the company own right now both output and talent wise.
This is sad, the general opinion on Retro was the complete opposite when DKCTF originally launched, I remember seeing people post about how Retro should be the ones handling IPs like Smash Bros. Who knows what the fuck has been going on for the better half of the last decade, the only thing they've done is throw out a port.

This guy doesn't want Metroid 5 to happen, when Nintendo announces it June of next year, he will be seething.

Actually it was leaker from here, and everything from his 2019 leak has come true with the exception of the Nintendo-related announcements.

Retro Studios is a fucking mess these days.

They did, some f2p online game which they just got done porting to next gen consoles.
