I like the game. But I think the concept of leveling is kind of bogus. The number above your head determines everything.
Also the enemies just scale with your level anyway, so what is the point of the leveling system? Make it more like Halo or something, where you have more difficult situations rather than flat-out stronger enemies

Why would repairing someone to fight alongside me actually cause them to get infected by the virus and turn against me and that they would be over 20 levels higher than me? There is no way to view their level by the way either. Regardless, you should never do literally zero damage just because someone is higher level than you.

I got SS ranks on all levels and beat all bosses with no damage on Transformers Devastation on Commander+, all S ranks on MGRR and beat all VR mission with top rank, did all combat challenges + God Hard in Vanquish, beat Bayo on Infinite Climax, MN in NGB and NG2, S-ranks on DMD in DMC4 and DMC5 + all characters BP, etc.

I know the P* games, and while they definitely have their issues, this game is next level TERRIBLE. It's not about difficulty, it's just a shitty, boring, shallow, grindy, repetitive game with loads of poor design decisions that just serve to annoy you and waste your time.

I've pretty much played through the game twice while getting pretty much all the gear and I have 93 hours total, that is such a miniscule amount of time for basically 100%ing two times. My first playthrough was completely blind too and I had no issues, don't even regularly play hack 'n' slash/adventure games either.
Go play an MMO to get your understanding of "grindy" re-evaluated since you're just blatantly speaking out of your ass.

I am on the C playthrough.

For the last 5 or so hours I turned the game down to easy, muted it, skipped every cutscene, afk'ed every fight while my chips fought it for me, and am just rushing to the trophy shop so I can 100% this trash heap and then uninstall it and break the disc in half.

I have a level 2 weapon and an unupgraded pod gun. When I looked up the materials to upgrade it, a few of them are extremely expensive and only sold by a single merchant, another only spawns a single time in a specific area so you have to scour for it then reload the area and repeat 10 times, and another item is a quest reward for some long quest. All of this shit just for a SINGLE level of pod upgrade that only increases you damage by a measly fucking 10%. It's a complete fucking waste of time, when I could literally just buy 99x ranged damage up and get a constant 100% damage increase for zero effort.

Regardless, a 10% damage up isn't going to do shit when even a 100% damage up still doesn't change my damage from being fucking 0.

Literally the only time this game was remotely fun was in the prologue (which I played through on hard) where the damage was at least somewhat balanced (aside from the spongy bosses) and you didn't have to grind for materials or watch hours of shitty cutscenes and exposition, or do boring hack sequences.

Because the game trolled me and gave me a literally invincible enemy that turned against me? I just reload my save, but it's just yet another fucking retarded design decision from this game.

You REALLY need to learn more about the game.
I'll let you in on something though, crits do 5x damage and having the chips for them trivialize every single encounter you'll have. I don't remember the grind for max level gear being that bad though, as I said I pretty much 100% the game two times in a row and it only took me 93 hours, so 46.5 hours each which is pretty small compared to tons of other games out there where you'd spend easily double the amount of time to do so.

I played this game casually as fuck and maybe died like 7 times on my first playthrough, I just can't imagine lacking such basic motor and critical thinking skills that you get thrashed this hard in a button masher.
