Dark Souls 4

What would you like to see? where do you like to see the series end?

For me it should be a prequel, and the character plays Artorias or Gwyn himself, and the final ending would be the intro to Dark Souls 1. full cycle kino.

ds ends with 3

>Dark Souls 4
literally Elden Ring

OOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

if there was ever a dark souls 4 i'd rather it be completely unrelated to the dumbass le cycle shit it has been jacking off to since 2. just a completely different story in the universe, you aren't linking the fire or giving it the finger or anything.

then it wouldn't be 'dark souls 4' dumbass, just say you want elden ring

Dark souls 3 was a very explicit "let this universe die, it needs to rest" message. There will be now Dark Souls 4 and there doesn't need to be. A DS4 would fuck it up.

There is nothing left, thematically or story-wise, to discuss or expand upon. There are questions left unanswered, but none of them are big enough to make an entire game around. The biggest mysteries have been explored and answered, if not explicitly then by metaphor.

cycles were the worst introduction to the DS story, fuck 2 and fuck sequels

>i'd rather it be completely unrelated to the dumbass le cycle shit it has been jacking off to since 2
Dark souls is all ABOUT that "dumbass le cycle shit". Without it, it's not dark souls, it'll just be a spiritual sequel like Dark Souls was to Demon's Souls.
Why don't you like it? Not a fan of indefinite endings?

If a Dark Souls 4 had to happen, I'd be happy to see it be set in the waning days of the Age of Dark. Everything else is secondary to that. I'm more interested in something like a new King's Field game though.

>What would you like to see?
For it to not happen at all of course, retard.

Consdering dark souls 3 was just a generic Bloodborne asset flip
if there were ever a ds4 it would just be an elden ring asset flip
OOOOOOHHHHHH

They shouldn't make anymore sequels. From seems to work better when making new ips.

>From seems to work better when making new ips.
Most retarded take that can only come from Soulsfags. Armored Core and King's Field existed way long before Souls games, mind you.

there will now = not*.

I wouldn't mind a prequel actually. if anything I want;

>You can only die twice in a row, if you die more than twice, you lose your character

We're talking about current Fromsoft, brainlet. And we're talking about souls games.

I like the idea of exploring the time before the curse of the undead, if its gonna end that way, it HAS to have the impact that Dark Souls 1 had, and the best way to do that was to make death more punishing in lack of flames.

Still doesn't change anything.
>FS is better when they make new IPs
is retarded anyways. Dark Souls is Demon's Souls 2 only by different name. If they could have used same universe again they would have probably continued to use Demon's Souls IP and Dark Souls 2/3 would have became Demon's Souls 3 and 4.

A full game in the age of dark could be neat, maybe even a glimpse at what the next natural progression is after the age if dark

Personally
>save files from Dark Souls 1 - 3, if you still have with will invade your world

Cycles have been a thing since 1 you inbred mongoloid.

Don't care. Want Sekiro 2.

>4
>not IIII
cringe

They clearly didn't really want to make 2 or 3 until 1 exploded and Bamco decided they wanted a series instead of 3 separate games. 4 would be pointless if they're just going to do another vague collection of unrelated but similar thematic elements and randomly reused items and characters that doesn't actually develop the original story or setting in a meaningful way.

If they absolutely have to make another it should be a direct prequel to DS1. Same universe, same cycle, same characters. Either way back during the war against the dragons, or during the start of the fall of the gods leading up to Gwyn linking the fire. Explain the serpents, where Gwynevere went, more about the banished son, velka, meet Pinwheel when he was still 3 different people etc.

>A full game in the age of dark could be neat
Yeah, it's called Dark Souls 2.

Do you fucks even play the games and follow the story or are you just randomly pressing buttons until you progress.

No it wasn't. The flame was linked exactly once, by Gwyn. The choice at the end was to follow his example and prolong the inevitable, or embrace the world descending into darkness. There is no "cycle" there.

>Explain
no, keep the mysteries mysterious

>Dark Souls 2
>Age of Dark
Fuck off

Gwyn linked it once, and now we have to either link it again to keep it going or let it die... until someone else does or doesn't.
Which is... a cycle.

DaStards should be perma IP banned.

>The choice at the end was to follow his example and prolong the inevitable
Continue the cycle in other words?

>The flame was linked exactly once, by Gwyn.
>linked
Do you know what happens when a fire links into itself?
Do you know what the dark sign is?
Remember Frampt and Kaathe who seemed to insinuate the age of dark and fire have happened before and will again?
The 'linking of the fire' is represented in metaphor by the dark sign, which is a circle. A cycle.

Let it die. If they're going to do sequels, they can do Demon's, Bloodborne, or Sekiro.

The age of dark is a fucking shitpile.
Imagine trusting a serpent because a different serpent lied to you. Use your own brain.

>Remember Frampt and Kaathe who seemed to insinuate the age of dark and fire have happened before and will again?
Literally never happened. You're making shit up to justify the later games.

At the risk of sounding like a 'pretentious faggot', Dark souls is legitimately too smart a series for the average gamer. The symbolism flies straight over their heads.

the Age of Fire happened for about 1k years and then another 1k years after Gwyn linked it
there hasn't been an actual Age of Dark since Gwyn linked the flame right as it would've begun

>Make the protagonist into "Burning One". a being born from flame, the first of his kind
>Gwyn finds you and turns you into a knight
>they betray you later and turn themselves gods

>1k years
Sauce on this. Reminds me of the people who said 2 takes place 2 millenia after the first despite noone or nothing stating such a thing.

I think the implication is that before Gwyn found the lord souls, the world was in a state of grey after exhausting the fire and age of dark, of course that theory is supported most strongly in Dark Souls 3 in numerous ways and you'll only listen to evidence from Dark Souls 1.
I think a few people got a little too invested into their own theories about the 'age of dark' being humanity's rule without gods or something and they got upset when later entries expanded upon the ideas.

prequels exist user, side stories during events of 2 or 3 etc...

Closest thing to an Age of Dark in game was the Untended Graves. An Age of Dark could go either way honestly, especially if you subscribe to the idea that the abyss is to dark what chaos is to fire.

Frampt says "After a thousand years, it's really you!" when you return to him with the Lordvessel, implying they've been waiting for someone to succeed Lord Gwyn for at least 1k years
I would imagine Gwyn's power being burned on the First Flame would be enough to give it the same amount of energy it had before the world turned to shit but obviously nothing's really concrete

I'd much rather see a Demon Souls 2. Maybe they can finally do something with world tendency and drop the stupid "interconnected world" shit.

I don't like the parry and dodge fest FromSoft games have become. I prefer the slower combat in Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1. Holding shields up around corners, getting distance away from enemies to heal, actually having to manage stamina. That stuff is fun for me and the last Souls game that feels slower pace was Dark Souls 2. I'd also like a King's Field game.

There is clearly an audience that likes Sekiro but I hope they make Elden Ring a slower paced game. Then they can make Sekiro 2 for you guys to enjoy. Everybody wins.

Seeing From take another crack after King's Field would be kino. I tried playing KF4 back in HS and I just couldn't get through how slow it is.

Mysteries are only interesting if you believe that there is an actual explanation. That means some times you need to explain things. Not everything, but enough that the player trusts you to actually be thinking about the things they're trying to get you to think about. Things like Ornstein in DS2 got at most halfhearted attempts at figuring out because it was pretty clear that they didn't really have a reason to put him there aside from "Hey we need a boss in this room and people liked Ornstein right?" The souls series has had at least 2 games now that have been completely reassembled late in development with stuff just randomly thrown into places to fill holes that needed filling. The final boss of the whole series wasn't even introduced until the previous DLC. I'd like to believe that somewhere in Miyazaki's desk there's a notebook with a fully detailed description of what the serpents are and what their goals are and how the things in the games like those statues in 3 tie into it, but at this point I just don't any more. Maybe he did in 1 and maybe he had a plan going in to 3 and it didn't pan out, but you can't just keep throwing vague hints about nothing onto the pile and expect people to stay interested in every new "perhaps..." that tells you absolutely nothing. They keep doing setup and setup with no real payoff.

In 2 the ghost chancellor in Drangleic Castle tells you the queen brought peace to the kingdom, "a peace so deep it was like the dark. Not to mention every NPC talking about dark, hexes being their own thing and only for das2, ornstein has fallen, and the queens are literal shards of Manus who reformed. Add to the that the fact that 2 is in its own dimension accessed by a water portal, I think it's pretty safe to say 2 is an age of dark.

Dark Souls 2 and 3 sucked ass. FROM is clearly better off not doing sequels at all.
