What went wrong?

Nothing.

good game, but not the banjo game we wanted, people got angry, but still a great game.

Microsoft

>All those kiddies from back then are old, fat Nerds now
>Fat Nerds don't like dumb ass kiddie stuff like collecting coins and bright feathers
>We need something more mature!
>How about cars?
t. Microsoft boomer

fpbp

This game is legitimately fun, try it OP. They just should have used another IP because it's a waste of a Banjo Kazooie title. Like any of these choombas would have done.

>ugly off putting redesigns
>tedious game play
>not what people wanted (with a misleading trailer before it came out)
>boring gimmick
>music is lackluster
>world design is ugly
>game just isn't fun

just to name a few.

Nothing. First Banjo game. Bought an xbox 360 for it. had an absolute blast :^)

it's weird that those characters were never used for anything else save a few of them getting cameo's (besides diddy, banjo and conker, obviously) like why did timber and pipsy get shafted, was it legal issues?

I still find it hilarious that conker is an innocent character in that game considering what they did with him.

This

Really just the artstyle, it isn't bad. But it came at a really bad time.

It's a good game but there's WAY TOO MANY missions that force you to use a premade vehicle, which goes against the entire point of the game.

also it's a little too easy to make a multitasker machine and do every single mission with it

Fuck you're a retard.

don't forget they promised a standard platformer with that early trailer and gave us shitty car builder sim #3349312

>It's a good game
How? Explain what is good on the game. Why would I play that instead of a proper car game?

This tbqh

HEY GUYS THOSE FIRST TWO GAMES THAT YOU ACTUALLY LIKED WERE ACTUALLY REALLY BAD, OUR CAR BUILDING GAME IS MUCH BETTER
HERE'S SOME RINGS TO FLY THROUGH

fuck you

yeah the writing in that game was very cynical as well.

if they ever make another banjo platformer (don't count on that lol) L.O.G should be the antagonist.

That too.
I played it, it truly wasn't bad outside of the premade vehichle segments, and I get why they included those. If it'd come out when Banjo was still getting games and wasn't ugly as sin it'd probably be well liked.

He's not wrong. The end of 6th gen and entirety of 7th gen was dominated by MUH REALISTIC GRAPHICS. No one wanted to buy an interactive 3D cartoon when the 360 came out. Nuts and Bolts would've done so much better in today's gaming climate.

Nothing at all, actually if I had a 360 I'd do another playthrough, been wanting to play a vehicle builder game lately and Nuts & Bolts is the only one I know of.

creating funny vehicles to solve specific tasks is fun.

some of the best missions are the ones with a simple open ended task. The colosseum stage has a task of making something that can travel the furthest after going over a ramp, where your controls die after you go over the ramp.

You can make a glider, you can try to get a lot of speed to jump a far as possible, you can try to shit out a catapult, it lets you make something weird and gimmicky to do a task.

there's VERY FEW racing missions, comparing it to "a proper car game" is not even close to sane. You're making contraptions, not cars.

the problem is there's not nearly enough missions like the collosum one. there's a lot of dumb shooting enemy ones instead.

This really.
If they had just presented it as a fucking spinoff and didn't have the intro literally shitting on old fans while having what felt like a Microsoft stand in saying you're stupid and should like this more I bet it would have been better received.

That said the game itself is pretty fucking boring and had no reason to be a Banjo game. Unironically it would probably be remembered a lot more fondly if it was anything else.

If it wasn't a Banjo Game I'm sure more people would've liked it.

>No one wanted to buy an interactive 3D cartoon when the 360 came out. Nuts and Bolts would've done so much better in today's gaming climate.
How can a marketeer be so clueless of its own customers? Its baffling really.
People went crazy back then over teasers for Banjo Threeie. The internet literally went up in flames for the smallest snippets of Banjo Threeie and then they got some trashy car game.
>Nuts and Bolts would've done so much better in today's gaming climate.
Pfhahahahaha! If you really want to come up your office one day with a molotov cocktail thrown into it maybe. With Jontrons signature.
Nuts and Bolts was a disappointment that went quietly and that is good for the wreck that it was.

This game is genuinely excellent and soi faggots wanting yet another collectathon when rare had already mastered the genre need to fuck off

you say that but even without banjo it'd still be very boring, it'd just be less infamous for pissing people off.

>mastered the genre
>when DK64 and starfox adventures exist
yeah they still had plenty to learn.

>dat reddit spacing
>creating funny vehicles to solve specific tasks is fun.
Nope. Its fucking retarded, was more fun using Banjo and Kazooies abilities as a bear and bird.
>You can make a glider
You were able to fly in the last two titles regularly, what the fuck?
>"a proper car game" is not even close to sane
Well you do have car games where you design your cars from scratch before doing something with them. Fighting, racing or whatever.
>the problem is there's not nearly enough missions like the collosum one.
The problem is rare listened too much to dumb marketeers who don't have a single clue of video games. Nobody wanted a car game out of banjo kazooie. Its completely unfitting with no redeeming qualities.
Its like turning call of duty into a colorful platformer. Its inherently stupid.

I think dk64 is a lesser game desu

DK64 was okayish. Had one of the best hub worlds.
Starfox adventures was essentially the same as nuts and bolts. Really stupid idea. You had something that works and people anticipated it just thrown out of the window for something completely unrelated to it.

I believe it just really shouldn't have been associated with the Banjo-Kazooie series, which hasn't had a new game in years.

I think it might be the same with Federation Force, I never played the game or know the reception of it, but the backlash probably wouldn't have been as bad if it wasn't assoicated with Metroid, who's previous game at the time was Other M
