The only thing that comes close to my mind is titanfall 2 which is leagues below it.
ID Studios really nailed it, as someone who mainly plays only online competitive games with a ladder theyve got me hooked which is rare.

brutal doom has nowhere near the movement, intensity, or thrilling gameplay as newer dooms

halo 3 has the most boring campaign ever take cover plasma pistole rinse and repeat

How does halo combat evolved has anywhere near as good of gunplay as newer dooms you fucking tranny

they've only done two games built around this system and they already had to cram the dlc full of stupid gimmicks to spice things up

meanwhile the original doom games continue to get content that feels fresh to this day, because proper level design and enemy placement has nigh infinite possibilities

The enemies are far more responsive to everything you do and feel more alive because of it. Shooting enemies that only run in a straight line at you is lame af.

Game would be good if it had any semblance of replayability.

Other than 2016, I can't. I grew up with shit like Doom 64, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Turok, etc. But I actually like the feel of this better. The blistering speed and ultra violence feels nice, and you can actually dodge shit instead of needing to take cover all the time.

I'm alright with glory kills, but yeah, flame belch, blood punch and chainsaw cycle gets a little cumbersome at times. I assume the boss you're referring to is Doom Hunter. Best example of that shit.

This is what made doom eternal unplayable for me.
