I never thought I'd like a second monitor until I actually got one. It's very useful to have a text document open on one screen and a reference on the other one. I usually also have music open on the other monitor while doing things on main screen. I can play a game on my main screen for example and still put on music or a website on the other monitor.

It's just objectively better. If you're not using one you can always switch the other off.
It's great for productivity too. I use dual monitors for work and I can work on making some invoices whilst looking at relevant spreadsheets on the other monitor. I can easily compare specifications on different things by literally putting them side by side. It's just better.
