This just means you didn't actually have good starting stats. Wasted potential is the fault of parents which is a starting stat. Either they fail to properly socialize their children, or they did not have the genetics for motivation. Really, everyone's problems are the fault of their parents. It's worthless for the child to focus on how their parents failed them though. Instead, they should accept it and work to fix themselves.

But it's still worth doing imo. Because you can say that even though you have absolutely nothing and you're a gay loser wasting your life on Zig Forums, at least you have a clean room. Doing a little 10 minute clean up every morning is probably the most meaningful part of my day.
