Skype was getting progressively worse, calls worked like shit half the time would freeze completely. Discord is rather aesthetic also compared to Skype.

What happened to kik tho

hmm yes (((aesthetic)))
I still use kik

Skype was horrible and microshit destroyed it. Its group chat functions were bad even for the time, discord is at least better in that regard
What do you dislike about discord that skype offered?

only indians and scammers use kik

>only indians and scammers use kik
/soc/ and Zig Forums are still on kik

I guess you can add retards to the list then

I feel way too old to use discord at this point, though, I know it's the new platform. I think this is how boomers feel when new technology comes along.

I like how skype was shit, it was more fun
eks deee funny comment

Which platforms don't suck? How much better are any of them than discord?
Skype is fucking awful.

>why did we all agree to start using this gay platform
>I like how skype was shit
Then why don't you like how shitty discord is? You can't even give any reasons for liking it other than "I liked it"

I dont like how it caters to gaymers its so cringe

>i like shitty thing more than less shitty thing because it doesn't cater towards things I don't like
We found the real cringe

no I like games thats why I think its cringe

Are you forgetting r9k is mainly 17-21 year olds now? If you gave a shit about actual imageboards you would have gone everywhere else.

uhhhhhhh hellooooo I AM 21 but I do browse other imageboards anyways

Your energy is wasted on someone that retarded

>msn messenger was killed off
>aim was killed off
>skype kept getting worse and worse with every update to the point of not even being usable as an im client anymore
>all other options were too obscure and never took off
>irc kept getting phased out
>there were no known alternatives and you couldn't expect people to pick up something obscure like pidgin or trillian even if they were good
>discord surfaced and offered a surprisingly smooth im experience on top of a simplified irc experience even if it's all botnet coded by pajeets in javascript
>it just werks
not hard to figure out

Kik and watsap

what does phone shit have to do with pc im clients? you also need to make your phone number available to use one whatsapp and kik doesn't even have a native windows client
the best multi platform option is probably telegram but almost nobody uses it

kik is for pedos and you need a phone for whatsapp

I came to discord from skype from the start.
Go download skype and try that shit again, the call quality is shit and if you had a giant group it was insanity trying to get anything done.

Discord solved a lot of problems. It's a very streamlined service in comparison with apps like IRC, Ventrilo, Teamspeak, Skype, on top of it being accessible nearly everywhere, even within a browser.

Most critique I hear about Discord isn't actually about the client itself, but the kind of people who use it. Which is bullshit because it's more than just zoomers and trannies that use Discord. It provides communities for just about anyone and any age. (that can still reasonably use a computer)

discord suffers from close to no privacy and lacks basic features like being able to delete logs

you could bring up peoples ip addresses with skype very easily

manifested reality

or the guy who created it is just a fag

I still use mumble.

>skype
The fuck are you talking about. People went from ventrillo, to teamspeak, to discord. Or from IRC to discord. The fuck does skype have anything to do with discord?

>why did we all stop using skype
Because it was superior to skype in many ways
1. HTML5 client
2. No need to make an account to talk
3. Servers

skype got that shit update that made it unusable and teamspeak is too confusing for the average person so everybody including myself jumped on the alternative that was advertised on basically all gaming youtube channels

its simple enough that my mom uses it, and once a large amount of people swap to something like that then you get a snowball effect where everybody else has to use it too
