I'm part of a historical collecting hobby. Every now and then I post ensembles of items I have that are 80 - 90% accurate to whatever the real items are, and I admit as much since I use whatever I have. Invariably, there's some autist who makes a big stink about how the pouch has the wrong stitching color, the plug on the wire is too squared (never mind it's not even in the foreground), or how the patch is 0.0224 inches too wide for the week of 1983 the image is intended to represent, so my collection and years of work acquiring real items is invalidated. The best he has in his own collection is overpriced chinese fakes from Chang's Historicar Leenactment Suppries that he defends to death that are even further from the reality than mine (let's not forget he's a fat fuck that couldn't even run up 1 flight of stairs like most reenactors). So I'm supposed to believe that I, the person with a small museum's worth of real items and the documentation to back it up, is somehow less passionate about the subject that some hairsplitting autist that can't even be assed to find the real thing?
I don't even hang around most modern reenactment/collector chat groups for this reason anymore since this stitch counting autism is 1/2 of what they've all degenerated into. Political bigologigolo bullshit is the other 1/2 that gives the entire hobby a bad name. God help you if you find historical evidence showing that variations exist, or that their autistic slogans have no basis in reality since they think just because you repeat something over and over it automatically becomes true. Far from preserving their precious history, they are actively destroying it.

Stitch nazis have been a problem in reenactment since forever. Nobody likes them, not even the stitch Nazis thermselves since they always get into assfights over whose repro is the most authentikest. There's even a few stories where they blew off WW2 vets of the exact unit they were reenacting, at a public event, so they can continue their assfight.
