So you have four ways to sort a sub.
New, hot, controversial and the other one. Popular or whatever.
Anyway these sort threads based on their age and their upvotes downvotes and then displays them to you the user.
I think nearly everyone defaults to hot which is essentially new threads that are highly upvoted.

So content on reddit that succeeds ie is widely viewed must be both new and highly upvoted, and avoid downvotes.
Herein lies the problem.
Upvotes seem to predominantly gravitate to posts that are first and foremost not critical or controversial. They must not challenge mainstream perception. They are ideally some sort of celebration that lacks praise because even praise is more controversial than

or the other inane shit that populates Hot.
This means that for the most part, reddit is no better at filtering noise and focussing discussion than Zig Forums, and it does it in a way that is significantly more censorious and asinine/saccharine through the soft self enforced censorship of upvote chasing.

It's a different flavor of sifting through shit for gold and it's one that entirely disgusts me.

The culture around upvotes and redditgolds 2.0 is trash and everyone has the same hivemind opinion on everything depending on what sub it is.

I tried going there and the layout confused me so I didn't bother browsing with it.
I also I don't care for sites that use accounts because it brings back the old school forum cliques/circlejerks.

The groupthink because of the voting system. They censor any dissident opinions and that's bullshit. Also promotes mindless karma whoring and stupid fucking retarded puns.

I'm not a sheep because I see the pros and cons of Zig Forums and reddit and realize both are equally as bad and both sites suffer from hivemind mentality. I use both sites for different, specific reasons and not ashamed to admit it. Anyone that hates me for using reddit is a sheep themselves because they immediately make stereotypical assumptions about the type of person I am with them not realizing the irony of how they're not any different from someone from reddit assuming anyone who uses Zig Forums is a nazi incel.

That's because reddit has like 10x the population. You see it in all boards, the most popular threads with the most replies are majority of the time bait threads. Obviously, there are people on reddit that "karma whore" but you really only find that shit in popular subreddits which should always be avoided. In smaller communities you see this a lot less. Both sites have a problem with people posting low effort content with the intention of getting as much attention as possible, they're just done in slightly different manors but are both equally as cancerous and harmful.

I've been in Reddit, I've seen the people, the way they talk, the way they think.
It only took 2 hours to see the truth, may god helps those poor people and absolve them in their last moments of life.

Same reason I hate the comment section of youtube. The only comments that gain traction are the shitty jokes from wastes of space who spend all day on reddit and sustain themselves off of karma. Also communities for things I like are clogged with shitty memes that are always unoriginal.
