Also a PhD is pretty meaningless. A PhD is an entry level degree to get into an academic position. Having a PhD does not make you an authority on a subject. Its a degree that will allow you to start an academic career. So a guy with a PhD who never worked as a professor really isnt all that impressive as a source of authority. Especially since universities these days basically try to have as many PhD students as possible to do cheap work for professors.

But the debate itself was not pertaining to the core theory of the importance of looks and the attractiveness of certain traits, the other guy admitted in the very beginning that he agrees with the general idea of the blackpill, he just doesn't think the attractiveness of certain traits are universal, but even then to prove his point he had to compare 2 radically different cultures.
