That's been true in SOME instances, but not even MOST. And who is to say what would have resulted if these measures had been even more lax, or weren't implemented at all? Need I mention the Swedes?
I follow the protocols because I acknowledge I don't know for sure, and there is NO PRECEDENT for this type of even occurring in modern times. That being said, it is entirely possible, and in my opinion FAIRLY LIKELY that the economic trade-offs, which cascade into varied and immensely complex, and might I emphasize HUMAN impacts, ultimately, were not worth the benefit of merely delaying the inevitable.
The initial quarantine is justified by and abundance of caution, but the deliberate and fanatical prolongation, which might I add has become NAKEDLY POLITICAL at this point is more indicative of mass psychogenic illness than measured "responsible" precaution.
