Here's a random anecdote. I visited a newly opened dollar tree in a strip mall in my town and it was surreal. It had all the shelves just straight down in vertical lines going all the way back to the store sort of like pic related. They had hardly any name brand food items, it was all off brand names I've never heard of. The lighting was really weird in that it was pretty dim for a store. The checkout registers were like a cheap parody of an actual checkout counter. They had clear plastic wrap on the credit card reader. I noticed a hand written sign on the register warning the cashiers not to leave their register keys on the conveyer belt.
It was really odd, almost like a fake store. It have me the same vibes as that store on the Steve Brule movie. I just felt filthy living that place.
