No one should, or frankly ever has throughout all of history of man, "respected" any type of artist, let alone arguably the lowest level of "artist" known as a "musician" (someone who merely makes sounds, which anyone could do if they focused their effort and life on it because it ultimately takes very little talent to do so). No "artist" (if that term is even meaningful, as all it really is is someone who fails to have an actual disciplined job and instead indulges lazily in their own pleasure all day, every day, between diddling themselves with other self-serving, ego-feeding garbage), let alone a musician, should ever deserve the word "respect". The disciplineless, self-indulgent form of "art" called "music" is essentially the same procedural mode of talentless attention-whore who posts instagram images of herself all day to get followers. Many, indeed countless many, people who create all forms of "music" and sounds of all types that please, exist in obscurity, purposefully, and the mainstream "pop artist" who sells themselves out to peddle in what others like to obtain their praise is a sell-out and not true to themselves. The true artist needs no audience, needs no praise, and in fact is most often sickened by critique, favorable or unfavorable, from others. What another judges, most typically on a far more simplistic level than the artist of the artists own work, created as a growth emerging from the artist on their discovery journey of themselves, is not only irrelevant, but offensive, to a true artist. Art is not to be judged. When it is judged, it is degraded. The artist that conforms to what others like is not only not true to themselves, and stunts their own growth, but in fact has become that which they are not and that which they can now never be.

No great "artist" such as Michelangelo, Mozart, Tesla (yes, ultimately an artist) ever sought praise. They ran from it.
